I should have added McCain. He is a total wild card. Of Collins, Nelson, and McCain, I suppose the GOP needs two of the three (assuming my math is right, and Snowne and Chaffee bail, which of course would put huge pressure on Collins is Snowe bails). How would you handicap that? Dicey no?

He likes to play God.

Snowe would not dare; neither would Collins or McCain.

That puts it in Cheney's hands.

I actually don't believe anyone will bail. If ever there was a time to enforce party discipline, this is the time. There are also enticements that can be offered. And I quite frankly don't think that this would have gone as far as it has, if they GOP Senate leadership didn't think they could get the votes.
