June 24 Six British soldiers were killed Tuesday when they were attacked in southern Iraq by unknown assailants, the British government said. Earlier, U.S. forces came under a string of attacks in Baghdad and other parts of central Iraq and at least one Iraqi was killed in the fighting, officials said.

I bet you they were attacked by foreign arabs.

I wouldn't be surprised. This is not going to resonate well with the British public. They are already angry at Blair. We have to stop these attacks NOW!

This is what we get when we fight a politically correct war. We need to kill all of those who would kill us, and beat the rest into submission. Then we can start the work of civilizing these savages.

This is what we get when we fight a politically correct war. Make it painful enough for everybody until they start giving up the clymers in their midst.

Yea. Top 2 on my lists are Saudis and Syrians. Iran is probably staying out of this one. A provocation from their side in a time of mass demonstrations and nuclear projects is a dumb idea.

I said it once and I will say it again. Train the Kurds, Anti Baathist Sunni and Moderate Shiites into an internal security force. Have them patrol the former Saddam strongholds and proIranian Shiite areas. If they are attacked, our troops go off on a 24 hour cigarette break and let them settle the score.

SIX BRIT SOLDIERS KILLED
SKY News
Six British forces personnel have been killed and eight injured in two separate incidents north of Basra, the southern Iraqi city where UK forces are based.
The announcement from Downing Street said the six were killed near Al Amarah, north of Basra but gave no further details of the incident.
Prime Minister Tony Blair's official spokesman said that in a second incident troops from the 1st Battalion the Parachute Regiment patrolling south of Al Amarah came under fire and took one casualty.
An RAF Chinook helicopter involved in a quick response to the incident came under fire as it landed and seven on board the aircraft were wounded, three seriously.
"Our troops came under fire and there were several casualties but we have no confirmation of numbers or further details," an MoD spokesman said.
British troops have been in control of Basra, Iraq's second city, for almost two months.
There has been relatively little trouble and they have been able to patrol the town without helmets and flak jackets.
America, however, has lost 18 troops to Iraqi rebel attacks since May 1, when major combat was declared over.

This will turn up the heat on Blair at home. The Brits (the average man on the street) really don't want to be a part of this. If this keeps up, we could lose an ally.

Stratfor has a really good analysis on the mounting guerilla war in Iraq and it ain't pretty. Go in with a heavy hand and you alienate the folks who you need assistance from to root out the guerillas. The strategy of bashing down doors and harassing the populace doesn't work, but given the psychological realities of what is facing our troops over there, you can't condem any actions that they may take. The only way to win a guerilla war is to gain the support of the population, something we're having a difficult time doing at the moment.
I truly feel for those soldiers over there right now, they must feel extremely distraught, shades of Vietnam all over again.
