[history]
Urias Smith and Edward Jones apparently weren't worried about other drivers or the 2-year-old boy in Smith's car. When the feuding men spotted each other at a busy Jackson intersection Monday afternoon, both went for their guns, police said.
The men exchanged gunfire as they hit their accelerators and turned from Woodrow Wilson Avenue onto Bailey Avenue Extension, Jackson Police Department spokesman Robert Graham said.

ping. Sadly, to show my age, I remember when Jackson wasn't like this. Maybe 25 years ago this was a safe neighborhood.

I know this neighborhood. Trust me when I tell you...their necks probably weren't even close to being red.

their necks probably weren't even close to being red.LOL!

It's the truth. The 'makeup' of this neighborhood hasn't changed all that much in the past 30 years, it's always been mostly black. However, the 'scary criminal' element is newer. This wasn't a completely unsafe neighborhood 20 years ago when I lived there. Now however, I wouldn't return for any reason. The child products of the broken welfare system have come of age...

30 years ago the first mall in Jackson was there.
Before that was the huge Baptist Orphanage grounds and the Rotisierie Restaurant and a motorcycle dealer (5 points)....Delta Drive and Woodrow and Bailey all come together. Back then there were a handful of whites in the area and anyone of any color could walk anywhere....back then you could do that anywhere in Jackson.
The old Tatums Sporting Goods and the Ice House was down the street.
It's a pretty large intersection for a shootout....very public.

The 2-year-old boy, whose name was not released, received bruises and scratches when the car crashed, police Idea for inventors/entrepreneurs: BULLET-PROOF CHILD SAFETY SEATS!

"Smith and Jones could face charges of aggravated assault, public endangerment and shooting into an occupied vehicle, Graham said."
Gee, how about attempted murder and child endangerment?

Send them to Iraq and put them at checkpoints and give them the authority to shoot whoever threatens them. Beats killing each other over here. Wasted bullets.

The black city government and police administration call home invasions "armed trespassing" now to try and skew their endemic violent crime stats.
It's a joke, you can't believe anything they say and some of them are proven violent criminals themselves.
You have to know it to believe it.

"Are you honest when no one's looking?
Can you summon money from a telephone?
They sat there with their hooks in the water
And their moustaches caked with airplane glue
O come let us adore them
California overboard
When the sun sets on the ghetto all the broken stuff gets cold
Smith and Jones forever!
Smith and Jones forever!
Smith and Jones forever!
Together forever and ever
Build a stage for Autumn's bitch.
They walk the alleys in duct tape shoes.
They see the things they need thru the window of a hatchback
The alleys are the footnotes of the avenues
O come let us adore them
California overboard
Holding up their trousers with extension chords
I've got two tickets to a midnight execution
We'll hitch our way from Odessa to Houston
And when they turn on the chair
Something's added to the air
When they turn on the chair
Something's added to the air forever
Smith and Jones, forever!
Smith and Jones, forever!
Smith and Jones, forever!
Together, forever and ever!"

There used to be a pizza hut right across the street from the old Jackson Mall. Used to go there all the time 20 years ago when I lived in the neighborhood. Mostly black clientele and black owner I believe. Never felt unsafe and it was a 'family friendly' restaurant. Never heard of 'drive by' shootings or 'driving while shooting' either. Thank you great society welfare programs for ruining a great neighborhood.
