The Left adopted the word liberal (which formerly meant the opposite of what it does now) the same way, and for the same reason. As far as I can see, it's been a successful tactic for both groups.

Maybe heroin addicts should adopt this renaming thing. Instead of being junkies they could be called "clowns". No longer do they use a "spike" to shoot "junk". They'd still be miserable but it would have a happy face on their tragedy.
