If the GOP can't parley this and the Democrats' other perfidies into a 60-vote majority in the Senate come 2004, it has no further claim on anyone's respect.

By all means, let's give 'em the chance. Let's make a 60-vote Republican Senate contingent the top priority for November 2004. But if we can achieve that, let's have no more patience with Republicans' lack of performance. They've been talking for quite a while about their commitment to limited, Constitutional government. It will be time to deliver.

• Abolish the Department of Education.
• Abolish the Department of Energy.
• Repeal Volkmer-McClure and all other Acts of Congress that infringe on the right to keep and bear arms.
• Abolish the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
• De-fund the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

That should do for a start. We can get into the more contentious issues among conservatives after those steps, which just about all conservatives agree on, have been completed.
