Carroll Campbell was beating him in polls in 1998 before deciding to not run. Hollings is hardly Strom Thurmond.

Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina are the White House's top targets. Daschle and Reid will also be heavily targeted if Thune and Gibbons run, respectively. At any rate, if W dosen't have coattails in SC, then he won't have them anywhere. Period.
