I believe the current market is manipulated, unbalanced and not free, but those who feel strongly about free trade seem to think it is and seem to think Globalism is the wave of the future. What on earth is it that makes some people look at trade with economies regulated as severely as Communist China as inherently free, provided we don't impose regulation on our side? A market can only be free when both sides are free. And an argument can be made (the Libertarian Party has it built right into its platform) that a true free market also requires the free flow of labor, just like any other goods.
National sovereignty demands borders, and inevitably results in different market rules for different nations. This, of course, is why free markets virtually demand political unity, which is why free trade and global government so often go hand in hand.

Well put.
I believe our domestic economy will become an issue that will need this kind of clarification in the next election. I've voted Republican since Nixon and I'm pro-life as well. If my party doesn't begin to really address the economy and pro-life issues, I'm wondering where I (and others like me) will turn.
Since we don't have run-off elections, a 3rd party just elects a Democrat (really not a good idea). A Hobson's Choice for people like me and I think the Republican Party knows it, so they are unlikely to change their policies.
