ATF seizes illegal rifles from gun shop
SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER STAFF AND NEWS SERVICES
REDMOND -- Agents with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives seized thousands of illegal rifles that could easily be converted into machine guns from a Redmond firearms business this week.
Similar assault weapons can be found for sale on the Internet and in gun publications. The Chilean weapons imported by P.W. Arms were manufactured as shoulder-fire, gas-operated machine guns.
No arrests have been made in the case.

Not many facts here. But then, that just means they didn't have time to make stuff up before their deadline.
These articles are so rarely news--have you noticed? Spin, spin, spin.

If that's the weapon, it looks a lot like an MP5K or converted SP89.

I think this is about those FAL's who were not de-milled correctly. Not sure, but I have seen lots about those kits lately.

Sounds like the BATF confiscated perfectly legal firearms to me, but then the illiterate thugs of the BATF have always made up the law as they went along.
If you can't get into the FBI or a real police force, you can always become a BATF thug as long as your IQ isn't too high.

All that work for a few rifles, and not one of those dollars to stopping illegal immigration, our real enemy.

Chilean army machine gun kits seized in Seattle suburb
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
SEATTLE -- Nearly 8,000 Chilean army machine gun kits were seized from a suburban arms and ammunition importer in a recent raid, documents filed in U.S. District Court revealed.
According to a search warrant, P.W. Arms of Redmond imported 16,000 disassembled assault rifles, each with a 20-round magazine and a bayonet, for $84 apiece from an unnamed Chilean exporter who brokered the sale of Chilean army weaponry.
It was not immediately clear what happened to the other 8,000 kits, which were advertised in gun trade magazines for $250 each. A spokesman with the local office of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms on Friday refused to comment to The Associated Press about the seizure on Tuesday.
The warrant says P.W. Arms president Stacy Prineas attempted to sell thousands of the kits to firearms retailers. A message left by the AP at a phone number listed to Prineas was not immediately returned Friday.
The Brazilian-made FN-FAL weapons could be imported legally if they were modified to permanently prevent the firing of more than one round with a pull of the trigger, according to the court papers. The rifles then could be rebuilt as legal semiautomatics, with a pull of the trigger required to fire each round.
According to the warrant, the exporter was instructed by P.W. Arms or someone at the business not to tamper with parts of the mechanism that enable the rifles to be used as fully automatic - and illegal - machine guns.
ATF agents learned of the assault rifles in a search in December 2001 at Inter Ordnance of America LP, a gun importing business in Monroe, N.C., that had purchased 8,000 rifles from the same Chilean dealer, The Seattle Times reported.
Last month, according to court documents, ATF was told by a P.W. Arms official about the guns in Redmond.

The autoglock is a legitimate weapon. Glock manufactures them for Government/Spec-ops. My wifes Army unit took a tour of the Glock facility here in Georgia recently and they demonstrated it for them and explained it's uses and reason for manufacture. It even appears to be fairly controllable with a bit of practice.

The words "fully auto", and "machine gun" are not illegal and neither are guns of the type, provided they meet the governments stupid regs that are designed to make the armed citizen as each year passes, less and less likely to be armed at the same level as any government stooge, or memeber of the armed forces.

Any semi-automatic rifle can be converted to full-auto with the addition of an autosear. Please don't feed the gun-banners sensationalistic propaganda. Your statement above is simply not true. Although there used to be a class of firearms that could easily be converted (open-bolt blowbacks), their manufacture was banned in the early 1980's. Most firearms available today would require extensive modification of several parts to be safely fired in a fully automatic mode (even if you had one of those toggles advertised as "drop-in auto-sears"). In most cases, it would be far easier to start from scratch and remake the entire action or even the whole firearm than convert an existing semi-automatic to fully automatic operation without factory made full-auto parts.

Full-Auto Ping. Thanks for the ping.
I've heard that the BATFE is going nuts confiscating parts kits, and this raid is just the latest.
I think it has something to do with DOJ telling them to justify their existence.

The B.A.T.F. thugs have to take guns to make themselves feel good. Why bother with the criminals when harassing peaceful gun owners is so much easier?
