I reluctantly buy the "Rare Earth" argument that we are probably alone or very isolated. Even if we're not, it's not very likely that they can get here.

And that's
WITH
TAKING INTO ACCOUNT all the 'far out' discoveries in physics of the last 25, 50 or 100 years.
Assume that the next 100 years or 25 years would show similar startling or puzzling discoveries . . . the puzzles could multiply aplenty.
Science has shown that smug convictions and declarations about scientific discovery having reached 99.999% of the end of the road--are always at best exceedingly premature if not idiotically arrogant.
