A former Brooklyn judge allegedly was asked to pay more than $100,000 to stay on the bench - and then lost her seat after she refused, The Post has learned. Congressman Ed Towns and a lawyer who handled his election matters in 2000, Bernard "Mitch" Alter, allegedly asked Judge Maxine Archer for the sum, a confidant told The Post. "They wanted about $160,000 from Maxine," the confidant said. "I know that for a fact.".........It was actually a request for $140,000, and it was for campaign expenses, Alter told The Post. He provided a copy of a written estimate he had given Archer in May 2000, including $56,000 for petitioning, mailing and Election Day operations, plus $54,000 in consulting fees. They should investigate legislators' role, as well. But that would involve so many and there's so little time. (/sarcasm off)

Either the price is for prestige, or the price is for the opportunity to peddle influence, which is even worse. Which do you think is the reason prospective judges would consider going along with this?

Where's a judge going to get $160k from? Its not as if fund raisers for judges are high ticket items. I think its time to investigate her rulings and see if some major players got something in return for their money.
