Thousands Rush to Southern Tehran to Help Demonstators
Students for Iranian Democracy ^ | June 20, 2003 | Information Service Staff Report

Posted on 06/20/2003 11:48:35 AM PDT by ewing

Thousands and thousands have rushed toward the southern poor suburbs of Tehran in order to help or support, by their presences, those who defied the Iranian regieme this afternoon in order to make a massive protest in the localities of Nassim Shahr and Eslam Shahr.

Heavy traffic jams are blocking most major traffic arteries which is unprecented for this area and shows the cement of unity solidifying between the different layers of the population.

Violent clashes rocked the area earlier in the afternoon as groups of demonstrators tried to approach the warehouses of the GTC where food and different items are stocked by the government.

The situation on the terrain is very tense and unusual as thousands of non residents are in the area waiting for the dark night in order to start the 11th consecutive night of protests.

The Student Movement Coordination Committee for Democracy in Iran reported that the demontrators have changed their tatics, simultaneously organizing small protest actions in various places and thus forcing Islamic militant groups aligned with regieme leader Ali Khamenei to disperse.

People in the major cities are helping demonstrators escape police, giving them shelter in their houses.

It took more time for the Toon and Janet Reno to 'liberate'/gas David Koresh than it did for Dubya to conquer Saddam.

I have a good feeling a lot of 'no such agencies' have already taken your advise to heart.

Yes it is. This time the stakes are very very high, aren't they? Prayers continue for the freedom of the people of Iran as we prayed for the freedom of the Iraqi people.

By the way - I am being told - but I would like to know - that the freedoms inside Russia - esp Religious Freedom - is dwindling from what it was when the USSR first was dismantled. Outside of the Russian Orthodox church in Russia, all other Christian "denominations" are forbidden to minister if they are seeking "converts". People who have been there have reported "the doors of freedom to worship God as one chooses" are closing fast.

I would like to know if this is accurate. But where God closes one door, as we know, He often opens another.

I Read some of the discussion on their board. From what I read so far, They don't want any help from the U.S. Apparently either they are afraid to say anything on the boards for fear of something or they don't trust the U.S. All we can give them are our support and prayers.

I wonder how far the mullahs will go in putting them down? Will they order the Pasdaran to begin firing on them? Would such orders be obeyed, and for how long? I remember the Shah's elite troops opened fire on the crowds one time, then threw down their weapons the next time. I have a bad feeling the Islamic thugs may be more ruthless.

Someone over there reading FR perhaps? :-)
This tactic was suggested on another thread a couple of days ago.

Looks like the temp is continuing to rise!

Why was this excerpted? It ain't the Washington Post or LA Slimes is it? I mean after all, those rags wouldn't be involved in anything regarding Pro Democracy or ridding a country of evil dictators.

I posted this on another thread (on the same topic)... This should really be taken with a grain of salt... After all, there's no independant confirmation of this, and the Student Movement has a vested interest in promoting/blowing this out of proportion. It would be fantastic news if true, but let's not get too carried away with ourselves...

You are right...

"HEIDELBERG, Germany — Lt. Gen. William Wallace, who led the Germany-based V Corps assault against the Iraqi army, has been named the next commander of the Combined Arms Center at Fort Leavenworth, Kan."

The problem is that the people dont have AK-47's unless they can steal them away from the Government troops.
