Martin was criticising KvH for not TRYING, not for missing shots, and he was hardly alone in his assessment.

I remember as a child listening (before TV) to Amos & Andy on the radio, loved it.

This guy forgets how Bill Laimbeer played the game. He was a cheap shot artist, a regular Michelangelo. I loved it because I was a big Pistons fan, but he threw so many Martin-type fouls, and then whined about it.
He was something else.

And who are the black players Martin has criticized "for not TRYING," or do only white players fail to play hard enough?

Didn't Kidd once say something about Van Horn's defense?

We ought to give Kenyon Martin a break. His predecessor on the Nets, Jason Williams, is currently awaiting trial on manslaughter charges for killing a Mexican limousine driver at Williams' sprawling estate in New Jersey a couple of years ago.

"By the time game six was played, Martin was reportedly recovered from the flu. No matter; he shot only 3-for-23 from the field, for four points."
If this is true, he would have had at least six points, not four. No big deal, but just to be a stickler. I live in NYC and this guy is a creep. He's a thug. I believe he played his college ball in Cincinnati which has been shown to be one of the dirtiest programs in college in terms of NCAA violations and discrepancies.

Ah, yes Bill "Flop Artist" Laimbeer. He's been out of the game for about ten years, now. I'm not so sure a Laimbeer would survive in the league today -- and I'm not talking about the refs.

Sorry, but this doesn't nearly come close to proving Martin's "racism." Don't get me wrong. I teach in a mixed-race school (about 50%-50%), and I see attitudes among the students there that defy belief. I think much of the black community has an underlying, subsurface rasicm the equal of anything you could find in the Jim Crow South. It's become so natural that they don't even notice it.
But the above article doesn't even approach justifying the claim that Martin's actions are based on racial bias. His actions are based on the fact that he is an arrogant, self-centered thug.

(This tagline does not discriminate in any fashion [well, except against the letter q].)

(In one game, when Ginobilli made a reverse layup, one of the TV announcers reacted by calling him unorthodox. In the past 16 or 17 years, Ive seen black players attempt a few thousand reverses, without an announcer ever calling them unorthodox.) I remember that. That's a very good point.

Didn't Kidd once say something about Van Horn's defense?I don't know, but I do recall that Kidd's predecessor, Stephon Marbury was known to have a blind spot, when it came to passing the ball to Van Horn. In recent years, a lot of black players have developed blind spots, when it comes to passing the ball to white team mates, even great ones.
