The Guardian
Former US vice president Al Gore is planning to launch a liberal cable TV news network to challenge the dominance of rightwing media such as the market leading Fox News.
Mr Gore, a Democrat who was beaten to the White House by George Bush in a controversial contest three years ago, is talking to financial backers and entertainment veterans about launching the channel.
Although it is not clear what format the liberal network would take, sources close to Mr Gore said the former presidential candidate was firmly behind the venture.
"He can pull out at any time. He can say, 'This isn't my deal'. But he's interested, " one associate told Time magazine.
Mr Gore wants the venture to counter the increasing dominance of hard right republican views on America's TV and radio networks.
He has described sections of the US media as the "fifth column" that inserts "daily Republican talking points into the definition of what's objective".
Although the UK's independent television commission yesterday cleared Fox News of pro-war bias, commentators on both sides on the Atlantic complained about its one-sided portrayal of the Iraq conflict.
Mr Gore, who recently said he would not run for the White House in 2004, has been developing ideas for the network with Joel Hyatt, the founder of Hyatt Legal Services, a chain of low-cost legal clinics.
Once source told Time the venture would put "video cameras in the hands of kids," while another said it would be "something totally different in concept and format" to traditional cable news channels such as CNN.
Mr Gore has always blamed the conservative media for his narrow defeat in the 2000 presidential election.
"The media is kind of weird these days on politics and there are some major institutional voices that are, truthfully speaking, part and parcel of the Republican party," Mr Gore said in an interview with the New York Observer last year.
"Fox News Network, The Washington Times , Rush Limbaugh - there's a bunch of them, and some of them are financed by wealthy ultra-conservative billionaires who make political deals with Republican administrations and the rest of the media."

Gore ...to outfox...rightwing "Here's a clue. If ya can't run with the Big Dogs, stay on the porch." "the critics of "right-wing" dominated media can never name any other outlet than Fox, Wash. Times and Limbaugh.
Limbaugh is only a talk-show host, not an outlet at all."
I'm put in mind of a book touted by Walter Williams as a substitute host for Rush. The Morality of Humor (or laughter?) was the title. The one thing I remember the author (Professor Francis Buckley) saying to Williams was that "the ideologue is incapable of humor." Which suggests that "a liberal Rush" won't actually be liberal--or will be unfunny. Humor has to have truth in it, and you can set your watch by the fact that there's much more predictive value (truth) in "conservative" Fox News than in The News We Kept To Ourselves CNN.

Funny, the article doesn't mention ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, all liberal, left wing networks, including all their affiliates, TV and radio both. Even the radio stations that carry Rush normally have news teams with a leftist, PC viewpoint. And the majority of newspapers nationwide are liberal or left. Not to mention Hollywood, which is downright socialist half the time.
The truth is, the media is dominated by the Left. As Rush says, he is the "equal time."
The Left, I guess, is horrified that another viewpoint is represented by a small minority, and that this minority says something that resonates with those who believe in freedom.

Leno joked about this and said, "Gore wants a way to answer Fox, cause the left does not have a venue for its message, except ABC,NBC CBS, NPR, MTV, Oxygen and every other cable entertainment or news outlet."

hope Algore goes through with this, and sinks his own money in as well. nope, never happen. He's a liberal... and what do liberals do... they get OTHER people's money.. usually hardworking people's money to fund their nut ball utopian schemes.
The only thing we can hope for is that it's a liberal.. like Turner (whose down to his last billion..hahahha).
Maybe that babe from Canada who Clinton is hoping to "do" will fund the
Liberal News Network.
However it will probably be called the "Moderate News Network"
or "Fiscally Conservative Socially Moderate Republican Network" or even best of all
"Public Broadcasting Network".

What ABC,CBS,NBC and CNN, not to mention "Rock the Vote" on MTV and NPR aren't enough? He wants yet ANOTHER liberal outlet? This just goes to prove that liberals like Gore have no grasp of basic economics. His target market is ALREADY saturated.

In the upcoming democratic primary (2004) ...
BIG AL NEEDS OUR HELP! - Register as a democrat and vote for Crazy Al!
Rev. Al Sharpton is officially running for president in 2004.
During the May 3, 2003 demoncrap debate in Columbia, S.C., our man Al stated The way to move a donkey is to slap the donkey, and Im going to slap the donkey until the donkey kicks.
Lets help Crazy Al slap the donkey until it kicks.
Assume GW has the Republican nomination sewn up. Its time for all good republicans, libertarians, and independents to stand up and be counted. Lets take a page from Sen. McCains play book. Prior to the 2004 democratic presidential primary in your state, re-register as a democrat and vote for Al Sharpton!
Wouldnt it be great if Crazy Al won! At the very least, lets ensure he gets prime time speaking rights at the 2004 nationally televised democratic convention. You gotta love it. Line up, sign up, and send this to all your like-minded friends.
Here is a link to planned 2004 primary dates from the National Association of Secretaries of State:

Check here for the rules governing primary voting in your state:

Anyone need a bumper sticker or button?

How about an Al Sharpton yard sign?

Want to keep up on the latest on Big Als progress? Go to the Republicans for Sharpton website at:
http://www.republicansforsharpton.com/
Oh yea, and dont forget to call the local demoncrap party headquarters and ask them the following before the primary election:
1. Can I get a ride to the polls help them spend their money during the primaries so theyll have less during the national election. Have them take you the scenic route and stop off and do some shopping on the way home.
2. Are you giving anything away free for voting democrat? Cigarettes, box of cigars, box lunch, etc. Ask for two of each.
3. Send 25 cents in the mail to the DNC and watch how much they spend on mailing you to give to the party. Always send their solicitation back to them with all associated literature in the prepaid envelope included in the mailing. They have to pay that postage upon return. Great way to help them spend money and keep you up to date on their propaganda.

Al Gore blaming the conservative media for his loss? So? What the heck does he expect? Conservatives to go out and praise him? Of course they were instrumental but not to be blamed. They spoke we listened and we decided. They brought the true issues to the forefront and discussed them. The libs could have done the same thing but there's no one that will listen to any of them cause none of them tell the truth ... they lie, lie, lie.
Al Gore lost because he was not the best man!!!

For this to work it will require a new amendment. THE RIGHT TO CABLE. How else will the lefty wackos reach their target audience without government subsidized cable tv.

Then there is broadcast radio media talkshows with noted Liberals Glen Beck, Jim Bohannon, Phil Hendrie, Art Bell, Rush, Michael Savage, and the Black Avenger. All Liberal as the day is long. What is Al 'One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest' Gore doing with this except hyping a new business venture?
