The fans of the Washington DC area professional football team call them the "Skins", not "Redskins". That is a commercial marketing sort of thing that's never really caught on.
The deal is, in football, as in every sport, there are only two sides: "The Shirts" and "The Skins". As Dallas was "America's Team", so the "Skins", half of all the football that's relevant, even if they lose, are our team!
Professional anti-Indian folks who keep trying to disappear the term "Redskin" really don't understand this ~ like a lot of things they don't understand. They should go back to Europe and stay out of our business.
