WOW!!! you are indeed, special. Anti-Communist Demoncrats for parents.. I didn't know such existed!!! Kudos also, for extraordinary resistance to left wing "public indoctrination centers". I salute you!

I just happened to have good ol Right-Wing Republicans for parents, still have my Mother, my Dad passed away last year, but they kept me on the straight and narrow, with what would probably qualify as "child abuse" nowadays, but I feel fortunate that they did believe in dicipline and a good upbringing, and I learned very early in life to look for "Commies under every rock". (I still do, as a matter of fact)

Fortunately, I managed to get thru the school years without being corrupted by the leftist horde which now is ubiquitous ( That being said, I did go to Catholic School until 10th grade, when I was expelled for riding a motorcycle (Drunk) thru a glass door (Yup, even if I was a Darwin Award contender at that point, I managed to get my head together (really bad pun here, sorry), and learned early on about AA ;-) which enabled me to finish my education, military service, all the clearances, etc, and stay alive, safe, and happily married after 34 years. Strangely enough, my daughter, who graduated from High School in 1990, had the same experience as I ( without the motorcycle or the booze though), however, she. like I, did go to Catholic School for the first 8 years, and as liberal as those particular institutions have become, she managed to avoid the worst..and is a FReeper (trinity 1..so the line continues.

Of course, my favorite line now is "Don't be fooled that Communism is dead, they just changed their name to the Democratic National Committee" LOL.

Keep the Faith for Freedom

Greg

Just like DPB101 who provides is with these great posts even though he is younger, I am fifty six my parents were born in 1903, and 1904, and they were also anti-communist Democrats.

We are from Texas, and in the fifties there was not much of a Republican party after you got past Tower, and Bush 41 didn’t come along until later, so I'm pretty sure they voted democrat in congressional, and state elections during the fifties. They did vote Republican in presidential elections from Ike on. They liked Truman, but thought Stevenson was weak, and figured out the Kennedys because they knew about old man Joe. It had nothing to do with their being Catholics. Everybody in Texas knew LBJ was a crook, McGovern didn’t even rate a comment and they called Carter Peanut.

The fact of the matter is The Democratic party in Texas was pretty conservative in those days, and they had a stranglehold on Texas because of The Depression, and people didn't think about the damage FDR was doing, and the fact that it was WWII that got us out of things. FDR got the credit. The Dems were just about the only game in town.
