The trial lawyers' hold on the Democratic Party is stunning. Albany - where Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver (D-Weitz & Luxenberg) moonlights for one of the state's leading tort firms - speaks for itself.

Bloomberg's proposal would limit city liability in sidewalk accidents occurring in front of privately owned buildings. Under the bill, the bulk of liability would rest with the landlord - save for one-, two- and three-family homes.

Also mysterious, as ask someone about tort reform they'll just people shouldn't "tort" in public...

20 million? You have to look at it from the lawyers point of view. That 20 million will keep 2 or 3 lawyers in the style of which they have been accustomed to. For a year.
