President Bush plans to nominate White House lawyer Brett M. Kavanaugh, an author of independent counsel Kenneth W. Starr's report on President Bill Clinton, for a seat on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, Republican sources said yesterday.
The disclosure came as Bush issued a curt rejection to Democratic senators who had offered to alleviate a fight over a future Supreme Court vacancy by working with him to find a nominee both sides could accept.

I doubt folks outside FR know what the Dems are doing on judges.

I think there's a lot of trouble for the senate dems over this issue - maybe the rumblings are only at the local level so far, but it will show up in the election.
And ... I don't think the dems have any idea what the public's perception is regarding this. They are just blinded from reality by their lust for power.

To be fair, his administration was not for arming the pilots (Clinton holdovers) until they got wind of a few hundred thousand bitch slaps via emails, calls and letters from pissed off pilots and ex-air passengers.

I doubt folks outside FR know what the Dems are doing on judges. The only places where it is big news is in the states that the nominees are from. In many cases the nominees are well known in their own states and the local media covers that case extensively. The Demorats have done it to some 80 nominees. That involves about 40 states an average of tow times. That is enought.
You can always tell what is working or not working for Democrats. When they figure out what they are doing is going against them they change tactics. They went from "send them up and we will accuse them of being right wing biggots" tatic to can't we just talk before hand to choose a nominee we can agree ontactic.
If a tactic is working there is no reason to change to a tactic that may not.
We konw the obstructionism is hurting them in the polls, if it were not, they would not try to change tactics to something that can justifiy it.

Brett M. Kavanaugh is best known for his being an Assistant Independent Counsel under Kenneth Starr. Kavanaugh received his J.D. degree from Yale Law School in 1990. He served as a law clerk to Judge Walter K. Stapleton on the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and as a law clerk to Judge Alex Kozinski on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He was an attorney in the Office of the Solicitor General from 1992 to 1993 and then served as a law clerk to Justice Anthony M. Kennedy on the Supreme Court of the United States from 1993 to 1994.
Kavanaugh is currently Associate Counsel to President George W. Bush.

There's nothing that turns out the conservative Republican vote than the obstruction of judges by Democrats.
We can thank Daschle & co. for their obstruction, which helped galvanize the Republican vote in '02.

How's that filibuster going?
To: All
IMHO, Bush should continue to nominate qualified judges. I think as a further step he should go on the airwaves and thoroughly explain the qualifications of each of the filibustered nominees and lay the blame for the Federal Bench Court vacancies on those who filibuster.

And she will do it again, And they know it.
Should she ever try to run for President, her opponent will hammer her at every turn to make her look as bitter and partisan as she really is.
