WASHINGTON -- Former CIA director Stansfield Turner accused the Bush administration Tuesday of ''overstretching the facts'' about Iraqi weapons of mass destruction in making its case for invading that country.

Is there any chance this guy is on the level or is he, more likely than not, an aging disgruntled Carteroid?

Turner and his goober boss were two of the most useful tools that the KGB ever had.

So we are to take the word of a guy that has been out of action for over 20 years? What could he possibly be privy to?

Here's a question, Stan: where are the WMDs that were found and documented (on the UN website, assuming you have a computer) by UNSCOM? When you show me the proof of thier destruction, then you can point a finger. Until then, you are just an old liberal woman posing as a real man.

I saw this guy on Cavuto today. He has obviously been sent out by the Rats to do their dirty work.

Stanasfield Turner was the guy who pulled in a lot of field agents and generally oversaw the wrecking of the CIA under Carter.

You will notice he has been very quiet for the last 10 years or so, and has only resurfaced since President Bush was sworn in.

Turner has provided me with one laugh over the years, when he recounted how going to work at the CIA the day after Reagan was first elected caused him to turn around in the parking lot and head home. All those banners hanging out the windows and people cheering for RR was too much for his delicate tummy.

Stanasfield Turner was the guy who pulled in a lot of field agents and generally oversaw the wrecking of the CIA under Carter.

Turner was the dimwit who provided the intelligence for the ill-fated Iranian hostage rescue, which resulted in the loss of a number of American servicemen.

James Woolsey, CIA Director under Clinton, believes there were WMDs.

Who gives a damn what anybody else thinks?

And btw there's no need to excerpt from yahoo or USA Today.

Full text makes for better threads...

You are quite right. I try to block from my mind as much of the events of the Carter years as possible.

All I remembered about Turner was him pulling in all those agents.

I forgot about the hostage rescue disaster...not to mention that the guy missed what would happen when the Ayatollah Khomeni returned to Iran from france (at our insistence).

Public criticism of an administration's handling of intelligence is rare from former CIA directors, who typically give the benefit of the doubt to those with full access to classified information.

Public criticism from ex-presidents used to be rare too, but you'll notice who hasn't STFU-- Bubba, and Stansfield's boss.

... and Jimmy Carter at least for a while there. He's been quiet very recently but maybe that's because he's out helping Castro do something, or Al Gore's new RatChatMedia TM idea and Hillary's book are overshadowing him.
