I listened last night to the last hour or so of Savage on WTNT in D.C., which still carries him, with time delay. He was savagely critical of the Supreme Court's Lawrence decision, and he said the gays would not intimidate him.

He didn't say anything about this dispute with Disney, and I was unaware of it going beyond KSFO. But I wonder if the dispute with Disney is about more than money. (Corporate Disney pulled Bob Grant from WABC in NYC when he made an un-PC comment about the Ron Brown crash.)

He's back on the air in San Francisco today on KNEW - 910 AM.

It's the new conservative talk station in San Francisco, and, frankly, has a much better lineup, anymore, than does the original station KSFO - 560 AM.

KSFO has been in decline, in my opinion, ever since they put Dr. Laura on in the afternoons and removed Geoff Metcalffe and Jim Easton.

When I first moved out here, in the mid-nineties, KSFO had an awesome line-up; Lee Rodgers and Melanie Morgan in the morning, Geoff Metcalffe and Jim Easton in the mid-day and early afternoon slots, and then Michael Savage from 4-7 during drive time, and finally Brian Wilson and Art Bell during the evening. You used to be able to turn that station on at any time of day and listen...it was spectacular.

Now it's absolutely awful. Other than Rush in the morning, occassionally, I never listen to it anymore.

Levin is awesome! What do you mean he has nothing new to say? He defends the conservative position better than just about anyone I've ever heard...and he's a great "flame thrower" just like Coulter.

I love when Levin sits in for Hannity...

He's hardly a "loud mouthed amateur", he's got the #4 program in the country behind Rush, Hannity, and Dr. Laura and Howard Stern who are tied for #3.

Case you don't know, those are huge numbers of listeners.

You guys who are complaining about Savage don't seem to "get it". We have been taken to the cleaners, as conservatives, for years, because of our mealy mouthed, "nice-guy" attitudes. Even Rush and Hannity play right into that.

Savage is different. He's the Sam Adams to Rush or Hannity's John Adams. He's a firebrand. He's a flame thrower. Savage is the agitator and rabble rouser. He gives it to the left with a punch to the face and the stomach. He's essentially using the same screaming, in your face, attitude and agit-prop tactics that the left has used against the right for years.

And that's why they really hate Savage, because he's using their own tactics against them. Nothing p!sses them off more.

Savage is mean, and loud, and in your face. He's exactly what the conservative movement needs. We need a voice like his to wake the stupid sheeple out of their grazing, slumbering, stupor and get them a little fired up and angry.

We are in desperate need of some righteous anger on our side, and Savage gives voice to that.

Rush and Hannity are fine. They do a service in their own way and their own style.

But they are also "nice guys"...Rush with his "harmless, loveable, little fuzzball" thing, and Hannity with his "nice guy" act. Fine, they draw in the timid little soccer-mom crowd...that's great.

But Savage is a verbal kick to the nuts of the left, and we most definitely need a voice like his on the radio.

And I enjoy Savage's show more than Hannity and Rush put together.

I heard Michael Savage when he was still on KGO. He was better then. Ever since he went national he's been a pain to listen to so I don't. Compared to Lee Rodgers the man is an amateur.

You guys who are complaining about Savage don't seem to "get it". We have been taken to the cleaners, as conservatives, for years, because of our mealy mouthed, "nice-guy" attitudes. Even Rush and Hannity play right into that.

Who's talking about being nice? Rodgers isn't. I'm talking about sticking with facts and dropping the mere posturing. I have heard him pontificate on totally false and ignorant positions while advocating socialist solutions, especially on environmental issues.

No, the part that grates on most people is his tireless self-promotion and posturing, regardless what he does to leftists.

Savage is mean, and loud, and in your face. He's exactly what the conservative movement needs. We need a voice like his to wake the stupid sheeple out of their grazing, slumbering, stupor and get them a little fired up and angry.

To DO what? Frankly, he lets them vent. That doesn't lead to action.

We are in desperate need of some righteous anger on our side, and Savage gives voice to that.

An angry bull is easier to kill. We need cool headed, calculating, and when appropriate, ruthless strategy. Reagan didn't make the impact he did by ranting.

And I enjoy Savage's show more than Hannity and Rush put together.

Obviously. What have you accomplished with all that anger?

I wish he would permanently sit it for Hannity. Levin is good. Hannity is horrible.

But I wonder if the dispute with Disney is about more than money....

I thought there might have been a demand to not mix it up with the gays. I am not positive on this one.

He's the Sam Adams to Rush or Hannity's John Adams.

Well put. I'm listening to him right now.

Marr is a great talker, and it would be cool if HE could fill in for Savage on WABC.

Tom Marr is one of my favorites too. That was a really stupid move by WOR. Who the heck is going to listen to money talk in the evening? I really wish they'd reconsider and bring him back or maybe go over to ABC and replace Monica. She's OK, but boring.

With that station, it is all about ad revenue and target audience. They are 19th in ratings, but command more money (or around the same amount) as WABC, which is significantly higher in the ratings. As a business, they are successful; it doesn't matter that the station is virtually unlistenable other than Bob grant. Which, by the way, (like Tom Marr) they totally neglect promtions-wise.

He's a loudmouthed amateur compared to Lee Rodgers and does as much to alienate potential converts as anything else.

I'm a little late to the party, but I agree with you 100%.

The problem with KSFO is that they really have no local call-in shows anymore since dumping Jeff Metcalf.

The best opportunities for calls are during Brian Wilson's show, and David Gold and Barbara Simpson's shows on the weekends. Me, I miss hearing Lafayette Pete on the morning show!
