The judge ordered no such thing, the meatcutters that unionized were already there. Walmart just bought prepackaged meat and transferred the meatcutters to another department to make their Union null and void. Why shouldn't Wal Mart be able to make decisions regarding its operations???

I don't see corporations sending their mafia type thugs out there at political rallies intimidating the eldery and kids....real tough guys.

if the high tech job of cutting meat is not making enough money for ya, get a higher paying job if you feel you are smart enough and hard working enough to do it. i don't know how much money they were making, but cutting meat and putting it in plastic wrap can't be that hard or dangerous, therefore it should pay accordingly. Pay should be based on skill and demand for that skill, in my opinion.
I may be wrong but you don't even have to have a high school education to do the job, although they may require it.
no wonder i can't buy a camcorder made in america.

How does pointing out three criminals justify unions?

Sounds like WalMart (despite their use of Chinese laogai-made goods) is following in the footsteps of Ayn Rand.
Anyone remember the part in Atlas Shrugged where Ellsworth Toohey is so happy that he is back in the Banner... then suddenly all the presses stop running.

How many workers were forced to join the union. Or should I say. How many workers were threatened to join or else?

provide and employers know that, and some take advantage of peoples situation. If every business in a given area pays about the same and has the same benefits, where do you just get up and go to?.........allright flame away. 1. You have no right to a job.
2. You do not OWN the job you have. It belongs to your employer, and you serve at his pleasure, not at yours.

Not a UNION supporter.
"ABUSES in the PAST" The abuse continues everyday in the public schools.
LIVING WAGE that is politically correct speak.
Don't Union members get to deduct their dues on their tax forms?
Money = dues tax deducted then sent to the lying liberals so they can win elections is not Christian any way you want to justifiy it.
Unions use the "minimum wage" as a gauge to bargain for more. So they get the lying liberals to determine how much business have to pay for entry level jobs, thus shutting out so many teenagers from ever learning the concept of work.
The school you went to may be called Christian but you can't have been taught from the Bible if you think that Unions are good for America. Why do you suppose so many companies leave America for cheaper labor, cause they cannot make money and pay all the benefits that the Unions got the lying liberals to make a part of the salary.
Their is nothing in the Bible that makes a communistic method of business/government the right way to do things.
Sorry but you really hit a nerve especially when the UNIONS were the Clinton/Algore NO. 1 supporters.

I used to work at meijers. Thanks to the union I made 35 cents over minimum wage. The only problem was I was forced to pay the union 25 dollars a month. Thus I made less than minimum. Thanks UFCW!!!

So much for Free Enterprise.
I suppose workers banding together has no place in your version of "Free Enterprise"?

Unions have killed manufacturing and will continue to be a primary cause for national trade debt.
Yeah, and Chinese workers making 50 cents an hour has NOTHING to do with it. Come on, unions might be a problem but they aren't the cause of the trade deficit. Its extremely cheap communist workers.

Workers can band together all they want. That's not what anyone is talking about.
They're talking about using force of government to run a private business.
To: lelio
Workers can dance a jig for all I care. The Government cannot force a business to pay them to do it. Government cannot force a business to negotiate with anyone over wages and the business should be able to fire whomever it pleases.
Should Government should 'oversee' business? Maybe run the economy? Ensure fair wages and prescription drug benefits?

Please name one industry for me that has benefitted and grown by becomining unionized?
I could ask you the opposite question, but I'll just say that the best years of America were the 40's thru the 60's when the percentage of union workforce was at it's highest.

Has anybody else noticed the number of non-English-speaking Wal-Mart employees lately? I'm in Texas. Two or three times in the past few months I've asked a Wal-Mart employee for directions and was met with total incomprehension or 'no hablo ingles'. What gives?
To: Coroner
I had that same problem with the local Kroger in my teens. Never worked for a union company since.

and most "trade" union workers go through 4 years of school and apprenticeship. A trained and skilled worker produces a safer and better quality product. Would you rather a nuclear plant be built by mexicans that just crossed the border?

This is why we need to eliminate the income tax and replace it with a national retail sales tax.
It would lower prices of exports by 25% AND increase the prices of all imports by 25%.
oh, and did I mention, no income tax, no payroll tax, no withholding, no cap gains, no death tax, no business income tax....
