[history]
William "the Refrigerator" Perry, the 400-pound- plus former NFL star, aims to find out in the annual Fourth of July contest in Coney Island.
Over the weekend, Perry earned a spot in the competition by winning a qualifying contest.
"This gives William Perry the chance to follow in the footsteps of other two-sport stars, like Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders," Nathan's contest spokesman Richard Shea quipped yesterday.

Nathan's makes the best dog that I've found in my supermarket. Great stuff.

NFL starts in 44 days? Praise God! I thought the NBA would last forever.
BTW, I think it's noteworthy that the 'Fridge' had to qualify for this event...:-)

The Fridge is now spokesperson for Big Ass Fans Inc. - the tag line is "I love chillin'with my Big Ass Fan!" No lie!

I remember one of Mike Ditka's more colorful comments about Fridge during his playing days. Asked to comment on his nickname, Mike said: "He looks like he just ATE a refrigerator." LOL

Actually, I'm a Gen-X'er who got sassy in a 6th grade spelling contest in class and my Boomer teacher gave it to me...I didn't get it right, but came darn close and he was impressed. Great teacher, great man. Mr. Mortimer.

Huge fans! LOL!
I love beer and cheese but I don't know if I would qualify as a huge fan.
A huge fan could sit on me and kill me though.

He was a great teacher (may still be). He sings every year in the Living Christmas Tree put on by the local Nazarene Church. He's not missed a year since it started (over 25 years, maybe even 30).

As much as I like the 400 lb Fridge (12 dogs in 12 minutes), he doesn't stand a chance against the 130 lb Japanese guy (50.5 dogs in 12 minutes).

I've seen a hot dog eating contest on The Food Network and those guys are very good. The skinny Japenese guy wins always...hands down over the big ole fat butt from the U.S.
Made me sick watching it though. I think I eat a hot dog off the BBQ once every two years.
