[history]
Security researchers believe they have identified a new breed of Trojan horse that is infecting machines on the Internet, possibly in preparation for a larger coordinated attack.
However, experts have been unable to pin down many of the details of the program's behavior and are unsure how many machines might be compromised by the Trojan.

I didn't see anything on the Symantec site that I could associate with this!

The good news is that the trojan I received does not infect any other files, so now that I removed its little file, it is gone.
But of course, the hacker may have done something if he used the trojan before I got rid of it.

Mine was the backdoor.sdbot virus on the Symantec site.

Thanks for the info. I am going to install some software specifically designed to look for these backdoor trojans because Norton Antivirus didn't do a damn thing until about a week after it got on here.

I hope that what you say is not true, but you appear to have some highly connected sources.
If I was a professional journalist, I think I would be spending tonight trying to find sources for a story on this. It could be big if the chatter and concern you have been reading is true.
If the bastards dare attack us with this and a ground attack, Dubya better retaliate with extreme anger or I fear the people will not support him in 2004. They forgave him with Sept. 11, but now that he has promised we are safe, they may not be so forgiving.

my norton AV security keeps telling me it is blocking that virus.... about 2 times an evening and when I am on FR...
If you have it you know about the little side bar on right of screen that shoots out when it has detected/blocked something....
do you have live updates?

I have had a growing sense of foreboding the last 72 hours. Perhaps this would explain it. Naw...that's just normal paranoia in the digital age.
Everybody gets that.

GR - thanks for heads up on this thread.
I sent clips to my email list & I think I will just turn off computer early thursday evening for 36 hours or so.
I am sick & don't want a sick computer. I lost a computer a few years ago to a virus. Once is enough.

Perhaps. But it is interesting when it peaks just prior to a major new something.
