The Boston Globe, on the 25th (July,'99), said, “The 6-year-old boy watched intently as his father dusted off his favorite possession, a leather-bound scrapbook of Osama bin Laden, pausing at a photo of the Saudi dissident with a semiautomatic rifle tucked in the folds of his trademark white robe. ''Osama!'' his son squealed excitedly. ''That's me!'' The boy, whose name was changed to Osama last year, is one of hundreds of Pakistani children named for bin Laden since Aug. 20, 1998 - the day the United States launched missile strikes against alleged terrorist camps run by the Saudi millionaire in eastern Afghanistan. The attack sparked outrage throughout the Muslim world. But the response was particularly heated in Pakistan, which sends thousands of Islamic guerrillas to similar training camps in Afghanistan. ''I love his bravery and gallantry,'' the boy's father, Niaz Ali Salar, said of bin Laden. ''He boosted the morale of Muslims throughout the world.'' The local leader of the radical Barelvi sect of Muslims, Salar said he hoped his son would ''live up to his name'' and lead the war against ''the enemies of Islam.'' In Mardan, a crumbling tobacco center 75 miles east of the Afghan border, Islamic priests deliver diatribes against ''evil America'' during Friday afternoon prayers.
In Pakistan, few buy Washington's vilification of bin Laden, whom it accuses of masterminding the Aug. 7, 1998, bombings of two US embassies in east Africa and several other terrorist attacks. ''He's a man on the run, whose only friends are the Taliban. How can he be a threat to the world's most powerful nation?'' said Sahib Zada Khalid Jan Binuri, head of Pakistan's most influential Islamic seminary. ''It's all spin control. If America tells me, `You are a terrorist,' what can I say?''  Link

Hillary Clinton Attacks Bush, U.S. Intelligence Services in Overseas Interview Urges a "Globalized and Integrated World"

June 17, 2003 By Toby Westerman Copyright 2003 International News Analysis Today www.inatoday.com

U.S. Senator Hillary Clinton (D NY) attacked U.S. President George W. Bush, and questioned U.S. intelligence effectiveness in an interview published in the online version of the German newsmagazine Der Spiegel.

Der Spiegel is Germany's leading newsmagazine, and is highly regarded throughout Europe. Clinton's remarks will gain a high degree of publicity across the European continent, attracting support within Europe's generally liberal political environment, where socialism enjoys wide acceptance.

While asserting her support for Bush in Afghanistan and Iraq, Sen. Clinton criticized present U.S. policy in Europe, and questioned the Bush administration's use of intelligence information.

Clinton stated that she was "not ready to answer 'yes'" to Der Spiegel's question whether misleading information was used to launch the war in Iraq.

"I know my husband received the same intelligence information [during his presidency as did Bush]." Clinton asserted that "the real question is have we obtained accurate information, or have the findings been altered for military or political purposes?"

Clinton also urged greater interdependence between Europe and the U.S., stating that America should seek "a secure and solid foundation" for relations with Europe, instead of "relying only upon our [U.S.] military strength."

Praising her husband's close relationship with European leaders during his period in office, Clinton declared that "for eight years we were on the right course to a globalized and integrated world - which is coming, one way or the other."

What did the Clintons know and when did they know it?

Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Martin Indyk, remarks at a briefing for the Middle East press at the Department of State, August 21 (1998):

"The chemical factory in northeastern Khartoum was selected because of clear evidence we have of its involvement in the production of chemical weapons -- physical evidence. The factory was producing a precursor for VX nerve gas....If you think for a moment about the consequences of Usama bin Ladin and his associates getting a hold of chemical weapons, I think you will understand the importance of targeting this factory, as well as the terrorist training bases in Afghanistan."

Clear evidence, they said...and weeks later we discover it was an aspirin factory Clinton bombed because of chem tests on one cup of soil - or so we were told.

What did the Clinton admin. know? Hillary claims her husband had the same classified Intel that Pres. Bush has. How would she know what President Bush has? How would she know what classified info her husband had? Why is she telling this to a German audience?

Quotes, unanswered questions and pure hypocrisy from Hillary Clinton, the Senate Dems., the press and the UN.

I copied a section from newsmax and posted it at another forum. Naturally, liberals dismiss all media as biased except for NY Times, LA Times, Washington Post, etc. I wish I could find something about Clinton's past chances of getting bin Laden in a news source liberals trust.

Powell Blasts Gore on Bin Laden-gate Scandal

Responding to former Vice President Al Gore's criticism on Saturday of the Bush administration's handling of the war on terrorism, Secretary of State Colin Powell blasted the Clinton-Gore administration for not accepting a Sudanese deal for Osama bin Laden's extradition, negotiated by Pakistani-American businessman Mansour Ijaz in the late 1990s.
