Bush is betraying conservative principles and beliefs for votes.

By subsuming the agenda and calling it his own, along with House and Senate pubs, he is remaking himself into a liberal.

I will hold my nose and vote for him this time. But giving to his campaign is out of the question.

I am sickened by this medicare/drug agenda. The massive tax refund to those who don't pay income tax. Reducing payroll taxes for those who make under 20k makes sense. Not a free refund.

AWB support.
Massive public school funding.

If there is some sort of strategery at play, like getting a 2nd term and demolishing big govt, it makes no sense to build it up beforehand.

I'm a very dissapointed and depressed conservative this evening.

IMO the republicans in control have failed and have squandered any political capital they had with me.

And it enrages me that there is nowhere else to go, except some obscure third party who thinks illegals are OK, and illicit drugs should be legal.

I understand your concern over Bush's domestic agenda.

I favor a *vastly* reduced government. But I still think that's Bush's plan.

Notice how the major limited gov't types, like Norquist and the Club for Growth, are eagerly working with Bush, instead of bashing him for growing gov't. I think they know the behind-the-scenes plan.

I think the enlargements of gov't Bush has agreed to have been to kill the opportunity for Democrats to make an argument on these issues. And the level of increase he's agreed to has been significantly smaller than they'd stick us with.

BUT, and here's where things get interesting: Factor in 3 major tax cuts--and more to come. Factor in privatizing a portion of social security accounts--it's coming. Factor in Lifetime Savings Accounts--they're coming. Factor in Medical Savings Accounts--they're coming. The private social security accounts by themselves will undo the entire program in a couple decades. All you need is a fraction privatized--and the results of those accounts will speak for themselves. So, more privatized accounts. Less taxation. It's a plan to kill big gov't in the long run. And it's very bold.

Don't be so sad. I think great things are in the works.
