This time is different, however. This time it is not just students protesting. Now over 90% of the protesters are typical working class Iranians. The movement is much broader based. Revolution is in the air.
Great reporting, keep it up, por favor.

On July 9th, why don't we all arrange to go on a specific website (I don't know what) and do a virtual protest, do something to coincide with the Iranian people's moment of destiny. FREE IRAN
I nominate CNN.com

Well, I see that the French have been there normal "useful" self in regards to this situation in Iran. They have probably put a stop to the whole revolution by storming the opposition people in France and confiscating their funds. This makes me even more furious at the French. Grrrrrrr.

Hmmm...if money is the issue, the French can't compete with and energized U.S. I wonder what a nationally broadcast "Liberation Fundraiser" would collect in America. I'm guessing quite a bit. A quarter of a century has not erased the memory of those 444 days.

Please keep me on your ping list, and thanks for all the information.
The deep desire in the human heart for freedom is a powerful force to be reckoned with.
I am praying for the success of this revolution, with minimal cost in precious Iranian lives.

Cross-link below -- Doc, do you know anything about this group? Are they good guys or bad? Did france help the student movement with this, or hurt it? I just want to get my facts before I build up an even bigger head of steam at our newest enemy, france.

AP ^ | 06/17/03 | ELAINE GANLEY
PARIS - Masked and heavily armed French police raided the offices Tuesday of an Iranian opposition group accused of links to terrorism, rounding up 165 members and seizing $1.3 million in American currency, the government said.
On the orders of France's leading anti-terrorism judge, some 1,300 police poured into the streets and blew down doors of offices of the People's Mujahedeen of Iran early Tuesday in a vast sweep of sites north and west of Paris.

...It's driving me crazy that we can't help them, is there anything you know of that we can do? I've already written media contacts asking that they cover this more extensively and also talk directly to students or supporters. Is there any way you know of for us to send money to help get passed to striking families? Any international org's supporting them we can donate to? ...
If you want teh media to speak with true Iranian protest reps ask them to contact:
Banafsheh Zand-Bonazzi
la_fleur_violette@yahoo.com She is an intellegent spokewoman for the protesters.
She is very connected, a filmaker and her father (also a filmaker) is in Evin prison right now.
She lives in the NY area.
I will check if there is anywhere people can send $ to help.
