Bush Blasts 'Revisionist Historians' on Iraq

ELIZABETH, N.J. (Reuters) - President Bush (news - web sites) countered those questioning his justification for the invasion of Iraq (news - web sites) on Monday, dismissing "revisionist historians" and saying Washington acted to counter a persistent threat.

"Now there are some who would like to rewrite history; revisionist historians is what I like to call them," Bush said in a speech to New Jersey business leaders.

Referring to the ousted Iraqi president, Bush said, "Saddam Hussein (news - web sites) was a threat to America and the free world in '91, in '98, in 2003. He continually ignored the demands of the free world, so the United States and friends and allies acted."

The president did not mention Iraqi unconventional weapons in his remarks, although accusations Iraq had chemical and biological weapons were central to his prewar campaign to build support for an attack. No such weapons have yet been found.

Many critics have said the administration exaggerated intelligence on the threat posed by Iraq to justify the invasion that topped Saddam. Bush has denied the accusations.

The Washington Post on Monday cited a former National Security Council counterterrorism aide under Bush as saying the administration's focus on Iraq undermined domestic security and counterterrorism alliances and could fuel al Qaeda recruiting efforts.

The aide, Rand Beers, resigned shortly before the Iraq war and is now security adviser for Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts.

The Post quoted Beers as saying the evidence used against Iraq was "pretty qualified" and that many of his government colleagues thought Iraq was an "ill-conceived and poorly executed strategy."

"I continue to be puzzled by it," he told the newspaper. "Why was it such a policy priority?"

Bush said, "This is for certain, Saddam Hussein is no longer a threat to the United States and our friends and allies."

Bush said the U.S. global war on terrorism, begun after the Sept. 11 2001 attacks and which he said encompassed the war on Iraq, would continue.

"This government will use whatever technologies and skill is necessary to secure America by hunting down those who would harm us one person at a time."

”...revisionist historians~~~~same as Monday morning quarterbackers~~~~same as all those experts on every channel~~~same as little Tommy Daschle being so saddened at the whole thing when he and his ilk had eight years to stop terrorism rather than warn about it.

President Bush, Commander in Chief took the bull by the horns after he jumped through the hoops thrown at him by Daschle and company and the United Nations AND did what should have been done and needed to be done. America’s brave military took the fight from the black hole of the Twin Towers out of the hands of those brave firemen, policemen and other devastated brave people in New York and broke OBL,s grip on terrorism and then broke the ultimate Camel’s back, Saddam. And these losers who are anti-anything still whine, imagine any of them being a leader, being a President who stands for the whole country, for America. Not just the Socialist DNC!

Ah, Beers on the Kerry campaign explains a lot:

1972 : (JOHN KERRY RUNS FOR CONGRESS; HIS BROTHER CAMERON KERRY IS ARRESTED FOR BREAKING INTO THE HEADQUARTERS OF KERRY OPPONENT) During Kerry's 1972 bid for Congress, his younger brother, Cameron Kerry, was arrested for "breaking into . . . the headquarters of a Kerry opponent," the New York Times reported on Sept. 19 of that year. Kerry's headquarters were in the same building in Lowell, Mass. Cameron Kerry and another campaign worker pleaded not guilty to charges of "breaking and entering with the intent to commit grand larceny."
John Kerry characterized the break-in as a preemptive strike and told the Times the two men "entered the building after receiving an anonymous telephone threat . . . that the telephone lines at his [own] headquarters were to be sabotaged."
Cameron, now a partner in a Boston-based law firm, has been a key supporter of all of his brother's campaigns. According to the Center for Public Integrity, Kerry-the-younger's law firm "has been the biggest financial backer of the Massachusetts Democrat's two decades-long political career in elected office, with its employees contributing nearly $187,000 to various Kerry races, including his current presidential campaign." - KERRY CLAN'S OWN WATERGATE NY Post ^ | 2.4.04 | Richard Johnson

MAY 19, 1994 : (SENATOR JOHN KERRY SPEAKS AGAINST LINKING CHINA'S MOST FAVORED NATION TRADING STATUS TO ITS HUMAN RIGHTS RECORD) Kerry is also a fan of China's communist dictatorship. "On May 19, 1994, five years after Tiananmen Square, Kerry spoke on the Senate floor against linking China's Most Favored Nation trade status to its human rights record," Slate reported.
Kerry said: "China is the strongest military power in Asia. We need China's cooperation. We cannot afford to adopt a cold-war kind of policy that merely excludes and pushes China away."
Limiting China's MFN status "would make us a bit player in a production of enormous proportions. We possess no stick, including MFN, which can force China to embrace internationally recognized human rights and freedoms." - "What You Don't Know about John Kerry," by Chuck Noe, NewsMax.com, 1-20-04

JULY 1996 : (JOHNNIE CHUNG COMES TO KERRY FOR HELP IN GETTING AN SEC OFFICIAL TO MEET WITH A CHINESE OFFICIAL; A WEEK LATER, KERRY'S STAFF WROTE CHUNG AND ASKED HIM TO HOST A FUNDRAISER) Chung came to Kerry's office in July 1996 to seek help in getting a Chinese official in to see a Securities and Exchange Commission official, and within a week, Kerry's staff wrote Chung asking him to host a Sept. 9 fund-raiser. http://www.nypost.com/news/nationalnews/17080.htm

See: "Congressional documents obtained by Newsweek show that Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. John Kerry met and personally corresponded with Johnny Chung, a central figure in the foreign-money scandals of 1996, prior to Chung's throwing Kerry a Beverly Hills fund-raiser. Kerry has previously maintained that his first meeting with Chung was at the September 9, 1996, event, reports Investigative Correspondent Michael Isikoff in the February 9 issue of Newsweek (on newsstands Monday, February 2). Chung, who visited the Clinton White House 49 times, eventually pleaded guilty to funneling $28,000 in illegal contributions to the campaigns of Kerry and Bill Clinton." - http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/040201/nysu013a_1.html

1996 : (SENATOR JOHN KERRY MEETS LIU CHAOYING, VP OF A SUBSIDIARY OF CHINA'S GOVERNMENT OWNED CHINA AEROSPACE CORP & DAUGHTER OF A CHINESE MILITARY OFFICIAL, TRADES FAVORS FOR CASH, PLUS CHINA GETS MISSILE TECHNOLOGY) In 1996 Kerry met with Liu Chaoying, the daughter of a powerful Chinese military official who also doubled as vice president of a subsidiary of the state-owned China Aerospace Corp. Before the meeting, held in Kerry's Senate office, Liu's sponsor, Johnny Chung, made clear she was interested in getting her company listed on the U.S. Stock Exchange. The Democratic presidential front-runner was only too happy to oblige and ordered his aides to contact the Securities and Exchange Commission. "The next day," reports Newsweek, "Liu and Chung were ushered into a private briefing with a senior SEC official." Within weeks, Chung returned the favor, staging a Kerry fund raiser at a Beverly Hills hotel that raked in $10,000 for the senator's re-election campaign.
Bank records would later show that Kerry's Chinese campaign cash came from $300,000 in overseas wire transfers sent to Chung on orders from the chief of Chinese military intelligence, Newsweek reports. The money was routed through a Hong Kong bank account controlled by Liu, whose company later benefited from waivers granted by the Clinton administration to the U.S. aerospace giant Loral Corp. As Liu and Chung were lining the pockets of the Democratic Party's political elite, Loral handed over top-secret missile guidance technology to Liu's firm. Liu's China Aerospace used the information to perfect Beijing's fleet of intercontinental ballistic missiles, which before the 1990s could not strike the U.S. By the end of the decade, however, China's ICBMs could reach the entire continental United States with pinpoint accuracy, thanks in part to the senator who says now he can be trusted with America's national security.
Chung later testified that before Liu wired him the cash to contribute to prominent Democrats, the chief of Chinese intelligence personally told him: "We like your president. We want to see him re-elected." Apparently, Beijing felt the same way about Sen. John Kerry.- "Kerry Took Cash From Chinese Military Intelligence," by Carl Limbacher, NewsMax, Monday, Feb. 2, 2004

SEPTEMBER 9, 1996 : (JOHNNIE CHUNG HOSTS FUNDRAISER FOR KERRY - DATE KERRY CLAIMS- FALSELY- THAT THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME THEY MET) Kerry has claimed he never met Chung until that Sept. 9 fund-raiser but the "Dear Johnny" note is dated July 31 and says: "It was a great pleasure to have met you last week." - http://www.nypost.com/news/nationalnews/17080.htm

1996 : (KERRY BECOMES "CASH-N-KERRY" BY FLYING TO LAX TO ACCEPT PLA CASH FROM HUANG) In the last week of his close 1996 Senatorial Campaign Senator JOHN KERRY stealthily flew into Los Angeles International Airport to meet with JOHN HUANG at a nearby hotel to pick up a $10,000 Campaign check in China Army Money. This Check helped Senator KERRY get passed a serious late charge by his rival for the U.S. Senate that year.- FR's AlohaRonnie / Present at JAMES RIADY's Chinagate Plea Agreement Hearing

1998 : (LA, CA : CHUNG CHARGED WITH FUNNELING ILLEGAL CONTRIBUTIONS TO CLINTON/GORE CAMPAIGN & IN "STRAW DONOR" SCHEME FOR SENATOR KERRY)"Chung was charged yesterday in Los Angeles with funneling illegal contributions to the 1996 Clinton-Gore campaign by asking friends and employees of his office technology firm to make donations for which they were later reimbursed. He also is charged with engaging in a similar "straw donor" scheme to assist the 1996 reelection bid of Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.)." -http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/special/campfin/stories/cf030698.htm

SEPTEMBER 19, 2000 : (KERRY VOTES TO KILL BILL CALLING FOR TRADE SANCTIONS ON CHINA IF CHINA SELLS CERTAIN WEAPONS) Bill HR.4444 ; vote number 2000-251 on Sep 19, 2000 Voted YES on killing a bill for trade sanctions if China sells weapons.

MARCH 19, 2001 : (CHINAGATE : RIADY DECLARES THAT NO MONEY HE HAD DONATED TO DEMOCRATS WAS EVER RETURNED TO HIM) China Army Moneyman JAMES RIADY declared under oath in his own March 19, 2001 China Gate Plea Agreement Hearing that not one single nickel he gave to Democrats, thru his underling JOHN HUANG, was ever returned to him. - FR's AlohaRonnie/ Present at JAMES RIADY's Chinagate Plea Agreement Hearing

FEBRUARY 1, 2004 : (NEW INFO COMES OUT ON SENATOR JOHN KERRY & CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTOR JOHNNY CHUNG) Democratic front-runner John Kerry had closer personal contact than he's ever acknowledged with fat cat Johnny Chung, who gave him illegal campaign cash during the Bill Clinton funny-money scandals, it was reported .... There's proof that Kerry met Chung weeks earlier than he has claimed - and it's in Kerry's own hand in a "Dear Johnny" note that refers to the meeting and thanks Chung for being "on my team," Newsweek reported.
