For nearly 50 years the US led the free world against Soviet imperialism. Yet Brazile manages to overlook one of the most important conflicts in human history. Why? Because after the extreme left she dishonestly calls it the "peace wing" invaded the Democratic Party in 1972 the party all but surrendered to the Soviets. The so-called "peace wing" actually a bunch of America-hating lefties sold out South Vietnam to the communist north causing the deaths of millions and awful suffering for many millions more. Under Carter, not only did the Soviets make significant strategic gains they came close to establishing client states in El Salvador and Nicaragua with the tacit support of the Carter administration and the open support of many Democrats. While all this was going on the patriotic Brazile never once uttered a word of warning or protest.

Ain't that the truth. But mention that, and the Dems will cry "McCarthyism!"

Thanks for the ping, Grampa. Good one.
Sorry, Donna, the party that whines about not finding WMDs after 90 days, the party that stood with Saddam rather than risk messy freedom would never have fought the Civil War to free the slaves - the economic uncertainty, the mass-casualties, the noise, the mess...not to mention the uncomfortable and messy years of reconstruction to follow. No, the left was against the Civil War then and the left is against freedom now - if it means their own power is threatened.
Members of the honorable US and Coalition military gave their lives in Iraq for strangers. A Republican President, once more liberated the oppressed. Your party is naked, Ms. Brazille. Your platform is hollow.

To the average person, the mantra is to blame Nixon for Vietnam. It was Kennedy & Johnson, and then the "peaceniks" that brought so much sadness to that conflict.
Vietnam Vets to this day do not get the credit they deserve for throwing that stumbling block in front of Commmunism.
