Thanks, Joe. I am looking at either Virginia or Arizona. Arizona is an easier move and I have someplace to land there, but it appeals to me less. Hot, dry, not a huge number of jobs, and large stinging things crawling around everywhere.

Virginia is harder to get to, but the job sector looks promising, there's water nearby, it actually has seasons, and as a history buff *everything* is close by.

Well, we agree on much but not this. It appears it will happen, so we'll see. Already the Hollywood money moguls are reaching into their deep pockets: they see a marvelous opportunity to shift blame from the guilty to the innocent. Now they're backing 'Meathead" Rob Reiner, but who knows who else will show up? IMO Schwarzenneger would be a disaster for us: he's a RINO with a Kennedy wife, and don't think for a minute he isn't influenced by that bunch.

Anyone with a $3,500 filing fee and 65 signatures on a petition can get into this fire drill (except Davis himself, who's term-limited). If the Pubbies think this is going to be a walk in the park they'd better have another think. It reminds me of another Huffington saga.

The left-liberal media propaganda machine will go to work no matter who's elected. If it's a Republican the "reporting" will resemble the current WMD hype. If the new Governor doesn't solve the state's fiscal problems in 2 weeks he'll be given all the public blame for them. Just watch! There'll be a day by day assault.

On the other hand if a Rat wins it'll be a golden opportunity for the media to gently crucify Davis and relate in trembling detail the terrible hurdles the new Governor faces because of the vicious Pubbies who caused this disastrous power "deregulation" in the first place! My, how the Scheers and the rest of the media pack, local and national, will love it!

No one hopes I'm wrong more than I do. But I see this as one of the biggest tar baby schemes of all time. I'm betting that half the signatures on the recall petitions are Democrats.

If I'm not mistaken, both Arizona and Virginia's state budgets are in the red too......I personally would avoid Arizona. Both are nice states but I can't deal with 110 degrees half the year in Arizona, and no coast. And Virgina is way to cold in winter for my taste. I am just too dang spoiled.....Let me know how it works out. Good luck.

'In the red' is one thing. California is several layers below infra red.

We are off the spectrum....But the states that are following the west coast trend are many. Last I heard, more than 45 states were now operation in the red. And that includes Republican and Democratic governors. For that matter, look at what Bush has done to the national deficit/budget..It's through the roof.

Joe - I live in Texas and our budget was in the red too

Cowboy, I hate to tell you, but your state budget is still in the red with sizeable deficit, for your state.

Gosh - I love Texas.

I am glad you do, since you live there.

Personally, I would rather live just about anywhere else besides Texas. Your weather alone is almost uninhabitable. Sauna's are nice, but living in one is another thing......

That's why I love California. Compared to Texas, our weather is heaven.

Hmmm, 10% of 32m is 3.2m illegals - seems a little low. But, hey, I do recall mentioning that 25m are normal everyday folk. As for the state going down the drain, you need to get out a little more. Have you even been to this state, or are you relying solely on what you read?

How about that new public funding for sex changes for criminals in prison? That passed last month, no joke!

Hey, all the states are doing that... (/sarcasm)

If your state become dominated by Democrats, it could very well happen to you.

Since you live here, why are you putting down the state? Don't you agree that for all the bad things that are in the news, at its core, CA is still just a place like any other? With the exception, of course, that it has beautiful mountains, ocean and perfect weather?

Well, Texas wouldn't be a nice place to live if a big meteor hit us square in the middle of the state, either.

I am never going back to California. I recently moved from Mission Viejo to eastern Washington and I totally love it.

Where do you live in Eastern Washington? I lived in Richland (Tri Cities) in the 70's. Wonderful area. Family oriented; good job; At one point the Columbia river was behind a levee outside my apartment and I could walk to work. Problem was, if you were single there was either the Mormon scene or the bar scene.

Soon after I left for Orange County the job situation there tanked completely. When I tried to go back ten years or so ago, my old company wasn't interested. (They had changed; I had not; They would probably be interested now, but now I am not.)
