Yes he does, and the reason is to protect the children that are produced.

Parents should try their best to remain with their spouses. And, protecting these children is a life-long exercise.

Those that have children should not have a string of partners, waiting in the wings. Too many young people divorce the spouse and parent of their children, running to the new man/woman that is waiting in the wings. Everyone should realize that children need stability, and children who have already gone through a divorce should not have to witness their parents dating mishaps.

Parents can date, without bringing these people into the household. It can be tastefully done, out of the children's line of vision. Introduce the kids only when the relationship is really significant, and it looks like it has a future.

Although that it is important and God says He "hates divorce", that is not the primary reason given in Scripture:

1 Cor 6:15-20
15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never! 16 Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, "The two will become one flesh." 17 But he who unites himself with the Lord is one with him in spirit.

18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. 19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.
