Don't tempt me to associate sausage-making and lawyers. I might actually come up with a use for lawyers in this context...

If lawyers were truly interested in the plight of the "little man" vs. the big nasty corporation, they would take the case for 5% to 8%, plus expenses; NOT 30% TO 45%, plus expenses. The injured gets a pittance of the settlement, while the lawyer drives away in his Mercedes, for his tee time at the country club.

Yes they do. Without competant and ethical lawyers where would we be? My comment was a bit cynical, mainly becuase of the sad times that we live in where an issue such as smoking tobacco or an accident such as this can become a law firms' windfall, nothing but dollars to the lawyers.
