I never knew how anti-American Israel's jounalists were until I started reading Yonif's post...makes me sad.

It's really eye opening isn't it? That's one of the main reasons these threads have been dropping posters faster than anything I've ever seen on FreeRepublic. They now consist of the same people posting the same tripe over and over. They've chased most posters away and lost considerable support as a result.

since 1967, over 60 Americans have been murdered by Palestinian Arab terrorists.

And how many of them were killed in the good old USA? Nada. Okay, how many of them were permanently living in Israel continuing to vote for Democrats in American elections? Oops, is that politically incorrect to say?

BTW, there is no good reason that Bush should move the embassy to Jerusalem, especially while the Israelis and Palestinians are still talking to each other. Doing so would just cause more violence as it would indicate we are not honest brokers.

They used to have good relations with the South Africa before Mandella was released. Probably not true any longer. Other than that no one else comes to mind.

Israel's problem is also our problem: Islam

Somehow I think if Isreal was located in Northern Europe or South America, the arabs would care little about Israel, if they even knew the country existed. While Islam may play a role, I wonder if nationalism and bad blood (like the Hatfields and McCoys in this country) dont account for much of the problem. I mean even if they all shared the same religion, I think the Palestinians and Israelis would continue to hate each other for all the evil each has done to the other over the past fifty years.

I agree that Yonif is a great advocate for Israel, a valuable member of this forum, and I am thankful for his(her?) willingness to take the time and contribute here. But no one is infallible, and IMHO there seems to be an excessive number of knee-jerk overreactive posts with the implication or assumption that Bush is going to screw/doom/backstab Israel. I dunno, but it comes across similarly to posts accusing Jim Robinson of abandoning conservatism. Please.

Yes, I am aware of the magnitude, history, and danger involved. In 3 years the carnage in Israel has been what would be the equivalent of 30,000+ killed in America.

I should add that when I stated:

"IMHO there seems to be an excessive number of knee-jerk overreactive posts with the implication or assumption that Bush is going to screw/doom/backstab Israel."

I was speaking of many different posters.

Since President Bush is not responsible for dealing with Israel's problems, then he SHOULD NOT MEDDLE IN TRYING TO TELL THEM TO GIVE THEIR LAND AWAY, to the people that Bush would not want to lord it over us here in the USA. You said right: President Bush should abstain from messing with Israel's problems - who is he or any other leader to try to partition that land???????

He's not forcing them to do anything. Even Sharon see's the need to trade land for peace if a real peace can be achieved. All Bush is doing is helping both sides come to their own agreement. Both sides have too much internal politics, etc. to talk directly with each other without US prodding.

The fight would simply be in Europe.
Take a look at the boundaries of Islam, and you will find war.
They are encrouching on Europe already. Look at the immigration numbers. How long will Macedonia exist?
When will Al-Andalus return as Spain is overrun.

Israel is both an outpost, a border, and surrogate in a larger war.

You know, some of the State Dept. maps do not even show Jerusalem as Capital of Israel, or even any capital. Israel is the only country on the map without a capital attributed to it. I am appalled.

Actually, according to the federal government, Jerusalem has no official country associated with it. I recently saw an article where on a legal US document (I don't remember if it was a passport or a birth certificate) the city of birth was listed as Jerusalem, but there was nothing listed as the country.

The US government does not recognize Jerusalem as the defacto or legitimate capital of Israel.

You are deluded, lost in the the 16th century like many of the arabs. Grow up.

Islamists are at war with the West. It doesn't matter why they are. it means that we are at war with them.
Appeasements doesn't work.

That is an odd situation.
West Jerusalem has been part of the Modern stat of Israel since 1948. in effect, the US is not supporting Israel's 1948 borders.
That is a position more extremen than that of the official PA line.

"I think the Palestinians and Israelis would continue to hate each other for all the evil each has done to the other over the past fifty years."

You get the moral equivacating award of the year.

You are an even bigger fool or biggot if you dont believe that both sides have done things that the other side perceives as an evil or affront. For you to believe that the average palestinian does not explode with hate and want revenge whenever Israel fires a missle into a crowded apartment house or market or when Israelis build a settlement on their farm, you are totally nuts. Same thing with the Israelis when Hamas or another group sets off a suicide bomb or talks of driving the Jews into the sea. Im not saying that they are morally equivalent but you have got to admit that there is a cycle of violence which after more than fifty years is as big a hindrance to peace as Judaism vs. Islam.
