Lead poisoning killing California condors
Sacramento, California - Two new studies say lead poisoning is killing California's condors, apparently thanks to wildlife killed by hunters and eaten by the giant birds.
The problem is endangering efforts to rescue Condors from near extinction.
The studies are prompting new voluntary guidelines for hunters. They should remove or bury carcasses; or remove bullets and surrounding impacted areas; or use lead-free ammunition.
The wild population dropped to just 15 before a captive-breeding program brought it back to 221.
Eighty-two condors now inhabit the California mountains bordering the San Joaquin Valley, northern Arizona and southern Utah and northern Baja California.

Isn't lead shot illegal already nationwide? The only lead used by hunters is for big game and the numbers of animals not brought home by the hunters has to be miniscule. Also, most bullets for hunting do not fragment. This is complete junk science designed to ban ammunition in PRCA.

The last condor alert I read said that eating plastic was killing them. I guess these "researchers" can't make up there mind... Oh, I get it it has to be the HUMAN's FAULT, not something like, natural selection...GASP!
Last time I was in the Nevada & Kali desert the crows and buzzards were doing really well, go figure...

Wait...I thought DDT was killing the Condors. No, it's the windmills.
Slice and dice.
The only place they're safe is Nantucket, where Kennedy's and Kerry's have blocked windmills.
