The impression I get is that the Iranian students are against the Mullahs and their control over the country. This, by definition, makes the rebellion a rebellion against Islam itself.

It's a rebellion against fundamentalist rule, not against islam. Sorry, I will always view islam as a threat to civilization. As another poster is fond of saying here: "Islam is an insane murder cult and moderate islam is its Trojan Horse."
