I remember him talking about this on the EWTN interview. It was awful for him, with the heavy make up itching while he was hanging on the cross. Talk about an itch you can't scratch! Sometimes, he had to sleep with it, which it sounded like he hated...constant itching!
Caviezel's says his performance is inspired. "Truthfully, it was never up to me." He humbly continues, "My answer was always that I'm interested in letting God work through me to play this role. I believe the Holy Spirit has been leading me in the right direction and to get away from my own physical flesh and allow the character of Jesus to be played out the way God wants it -- that's all I can do."
He also said in the EWTN interview there wasn't one minute where he was on camera, that he didn't take communion before. There was always a priest on the set, and they said mass daily. I think he was truly led by the Holy Spirit in this role, and we will witness it soon.
Were there any other horror stories or was that the worst of his ordeal? "I was spit on, beaten, and I carried my cross for days over and over the same road; it was brutal."
He mentioned that they "missed" a couple of times during the scourging scene. OUCH!!
Although Gibson feels apologetic for what Caviezel had to go through, ("I know Jim suffered, he separated his left shoulder and was in a lot of pain and discomfort, but he was very patient during the whole thing")
...and just where was the physical therapist on the set? Hmmmm??? /shameless plug
....btw, you're right, A_p_l...he is a hottie! You won't be the only one trying to forget that during the crucifixion ;o)
(...but I will still always be faithful to Mel, in case you're wondering about that last comment, NY! LOL)
