Eric Rudolph Was A Doper/The FBI Did Not Get Its Man

The Washington Post has angered some conservative Christians by quoting a so-called terrorism expert as saying accused bomber Eric Rudolph is a "Christian terrorist." A more accurate description would be "doper." The Post had previously noted in passing that Rudolph had traveled to Holland to procure high-quality marijuana seeds for the marijuana he raised and smoked.

Attorney General John Ashcroft applauded the apprehension of Eric Rudolph, who had been eluding law enforcement for five years, by saying, "American law enforcement's unending efforts to capture Eric Robert Rudolph have been rewarded. Working with law enforcement nationwide, the FBI always gets its man." But Rudolph is now being accused of the 1996 Olympic bombing, which the FBI had falsely claimed was the work of Richard Jewell. The FBI had the wrong man in that case, and Rudolph was captured by a local police officer, not the FBI.

1. The media has taken the occasion of Eric Rudolph's capture to characterize his activities as the logical conclusion of being a Christian. Although I'm not a Christian myself, such smear tactics offend me as well.
2. The FBI is still a shell of its former self [when directed by J. Edgar Hoover].

I don't judge who is and who is not a Christian. If someone terms themselves Christians, then I must accept that as their belief.
As a non-Christian, myself, I would not presume to say who is a Christian or not. I let people tell me their religion.
And a murderer could indeed be a Christian, according to the teachings of Christianity. I'm sure you can figure out how.

And of course all homicide bombers are referred to as "Muslim terrorists" in the same publication ...

Methinks that certain media organs are out to make sure that no one has any sympathy for this guy.
(1) Calling him a "Christian" terrorist to make sure the liberals and lefties know he is a bad guy.
(2) Now he is noted "doper", thus ensuring that the socially conservative right will know he is a bad guy.
Maybe he is guilty as sin. Maybe he is just the fall guy to take the rap for several unrelated bombings.

Score another point for my conviction that the War on Drugs, if not ended soon, will turn into a War on Christians. (While this may not at first glance logically seem to follow, if you look closely you will see the pattern of inalienable rights decimated in the furtherance of an all-powerful central state.) The propaganda continues.

You must be unfamiliar with the basic tenets of Christianity. A murderer could be a Christian before committing murder, and would remain one in every sect of Christianity, just as long as he confessed his sin and repented. Or, he could become a Christian after an act of murder, in the same way. That's the foundation of the religion, that sinners can repent and be saved.
Is this guy a Christian? I don't know. You'd have to ask him. He could be, though. It's too easy just to say that Christians can't be murderers. They can.

They have too many liberals and gays working at the FBI now, plus affirmative action.

Whoops, I see you answered in a previous post.
Nothing to see here. Move along.

Oh, I see... I read your statement wrongly. That is, literally and not the non-sequitor it was.

I read somewhere that he was part of "Christian Identity", I don't think they'd be considered Christians ---they have some very bizarre beliefs about Jews and everything. Nothing they got from the Bible. Just because something uses a word in the name of their group doesn't mean they belong to others that use that same word.

Well, the Christian Identity folks sure think they're Christians, and cover their web sites with Bible verses. Who decides who is a Christian and who is not. Many here on FR believe that Mormons are not Christians. Others think that the Roman Catholic Church is the spawn of Satan. The Pentacostalists decry the Presbyterians, and the Missouri Synod Lutherans aren't so sure about the Evangelical Lutherans.
Lots of people say they're Christians. It's easy to say that, I guess, and easy to say someone you don't like isn't a Christian.
No, Rudolph does not behave as you'd think a Christian would, but then neither do the two sides in Northern Ireland.
How the heck do you tell who's a Christian and who's not?

Going to Holland for high quality seeds?
Anyone with a brain knows that just as good, and much more reasonably priced seeds are available in Canada! I also think that it would be easier to get it back across the border driving than going on an airline. Security is strict these days.
