Oh, he's a wonderful example of a civilized human being

Go ahead. Dismiss the accomplishments of one of the best military leaders in the history of the world. His tactics and strategy are still taught at West Point. He was a hero of that great heterosexual general, George Patton.

While you are at it, dismiss the homosexual society of Sparta. Dismiss one of the best and most admired military forces in the history of the world. Dismiss the fact that the influence of Sparta is so great that every coalition vechile in Operation Iraqi Freedom was marked with the insignia the Spartans used on their shields.

If military force were all that were necessary, Sparta would still exist. A culture needs more than might. Sparta might have used homoerotic behavior to maintain their strength (?) but they also murdered children. Yes, it kept them strong, but it did not keep them alive.

You would be more sane to justify child murder by Sparta than to justify homoerotic behavior.

I asked for an extant - one that has survived - example.
