Not quite as full of himself, I think, though smug for good cause at discovering and carving out the niche he has. It's the sad imitators trying to ape his success at what he does best who pale by comparison.
Somehow though, I think Drudge could hold his own in a pressclub bar along with the likes of Samuel Clemens, Ambrose Bierce, Billy Russell, Winston Churchill, Roger Fenton, H.L. Mencken, Gene Fowler, Victor Frisbee, Don Marquis, Ben Hecht, Ernie Pyle and Keyes Beech.
And me and a few of my pals, of course. He's one of us.
