DRUDGE: No, no. But, you know, a lot of people compare me to Winchell. Not this little black duck, buster. A better comparison would be with columnist Ernie Pyle, particularly in his pre-war days as a Scripps-Howard columnist-at-large covering aviation developments, sometimes as involved in the emergence of new aircraft technologies or breaking old records as he was in covering them. Drudge is just reporting and utilizing a different new medium, largely of his own creation is all, and less subject to editorial pressure from journalistic ownership or management on high.
