I've been a Letterman fan for years. His morning show was a hoot and his sense of humor is very close to mine. He's from my hometown of Indianapolis, Indiana. I would say that he was relatively apolitical until the past few years. I still watch his monologue at least once a week.

On the website http://www.cbs.com/latenight/lateshow// there is a way that you can ask for tickets for when you are in town and I did that.

Yes, hate to admit it here (I really hate being flamed!), but I'm a long-time fan too. I remember watching the morning show sometimes, but wasn't that around 1982? I was kind of busy, in law school 82-85. Paul Shaffer would have done the show too, but he couldn't get up that early.
