Very interesting reading.I had no idea about the bombing episodes or Palmer.How very unPC he was!Deporting the people who wished to destroy our government sounds so sane!Returning them to a country whose virtues they extol while they condemn this country's government sounds humane!I think we cannot forget our depression era was worldwide and communism was gaining strength.The fact our unions did not go communist says something very good about American workers and the value Americans place on their individuality. Reds continue to be a threat.

Exactly. Amazing we survived. There were more good people than rats. AFL was always anticommunist. CIO was the problem. The AFL-CIO was great in fighting the Cold War. Clinton and Sweeney changed that. For the first time in its history, the AFL-CIO now allows members of the Communist Party USA to hold official positions in the union.
