That museum director is a piece of work. He had several weeks to correct people's misapprehensions about the looting, but didn't. Then when our guys got in there and finished the accounting that proved it was bogus, THEN he starts backpedaling.
"No, no," he says. "170,000 is the number of the items in the whole museum, not what was looted."
Meanwhile, he sat back and watched us be excoriated by the world.
