Firstly, I would not put my children in public schools. I will homeschool if I am lucky enough to get children.

However, public schools used to work. There was a time when they DID work. I suggest you read "The Bell Curve" for more statistics on public schools and their effectiveness. I do not agree with some of the conclusions in that book, but they do provide convincing facts about public schools in the past versus now.
