it's interesting how mexico--the government and the culture, dominated over by a white, european elite-- pushed the united states to be "fair" to their emigrants.
make no mistake about it, mexico is a very racist country. there are few opportunities for the dark-skinned, indian mixed bloods. that's why they come here, for opportunities that their country denies them.
recently el presidente fox signed an anti-discrimination law. i doubt that it will have much effect because racism in mexico is deeply rooted. also, there are not the competing pluralistic demands of various ethnic and religious groups, nor the safeguards like the u.s. constitution. mexican law is napoleonic law and bribes will get one far.

Here in Spokane Russian grandmas and grandpas (babushkas and dedushkas) are coming here by the thousands, steal all the low income housing and receive $800 per month SSI, disability, because they'll never learn how to speak English. It's an absolute disgrace!
I should explain myself a little also (see my bio.) I was a Russian translator in the US Army. When they started coming here in the early '90's, I palled around with them for a while since I can speak Russian---no longer because I started losing my American friends---they all hate them!

>>I responded to a post concerning that issue and it wasn't pulled. Are you sure yours wasn't a duplicate?<<
That's a good question. I searched for a duplicate, and didn't find one at the time. Also, the reason given for the pull was a simple 'NO,' rather than 'duplicate.'
On the other hand, my search skills have been less than stellar on free republic, so the article may well have been a duplicate at the time I posted it.

WHEREAS the Bush Administration plans to give away at least 345 billion dollars of Social Security money...to be used to pay lifetime benefits to any Mexican citizen who has worked in the United States...legally or illegally, living in the United States or not..
.........and yet, so many here are wearing the knee-pads...
I don't get it.

How can an illegal alien get a social security number to pay social security???? This does not sound credible.

I went to the website and want to know something more about the organization. While I agree with the petition, something about the site bothers me. No way to tell who these guys really are and who's behind them. Do you know who is behind this website?

I am a foreign national working in USA, I get a Statement of Benefit from Social Security every year. I have a social security number and the benefit sheet lists the benefits that I will get when I retire.
You're absolutely right. The US pays Social Security to people from many countries.
The United States has bilateral Social Security agreements with 20 countries. The agreements improve benefit protection for workers who have divided their careers between the United States and another country. Following is a list of the agreements the United States has concluded and the date of the entry into force of each:

"Do you know who is behind this website? " No. I know nothing about them, though the name of the organization sounds suspicious.

Social Security was NEVER meant to cover any of the things it covers. It was never meant to be a person's only source of retirement income. It was only supposed to catch the very poor who needed help for a year or two in old age. It was not meant to go to ILLEGALS. This is a crock!

Boy did you hit a sore spot with me.
My area (Newton,Brookline Mass.) is full of Russians collecting SSI. One Senior Citizen complex in my town is 50% Russian and they also have about 50% of the subsidised apartments. We have a partial Russian edition of our local paper also once a month. It is a page full of ads for doctors, lawyers, dentists etc. and it is all in Russian except for two word that have to be in English because there is no Russian equivalent.
Those two words are MEDICARE and MEDICAID!!!!!!!!!!!

My aunt came from Canada(legally) in 1950 at age 50.
She worked for 15 years and then collected Social Security for 20 years, until she died. She never returned to Canada.
Her six sisters, who had come here in the twenties and all became citizens, were not happy that she never became a citizen.
Many others come here, work, and then go home where they collect SS and spend it in their home countries.I know of at least two cases, and in one instance he came JUST TO WORK FOR ENOUGH TIME TO BE ELIGIBLE TO COLLECT SOCIAL SECURITY.

That really pisses me off to hear that your aunt never became a citizen.
What really makes me mad is knowing that there are illegals here to just collect social security when somebody like me cannot even touch it. Because of this fraudelent practice by our government, Americnas have just stopped filing tax returns because they are just sick and tired of giving all their blood, sweat, and tears money to these illegals who are not entitled to it. If Americans cannot even get jobs let alone SS, because the illegals are siphoning all the benefits, why file tax returns?
In L.A. County, the hospitals and state courts are closing, because the County doesn't have the financial resources to stay in business because of the illegals milking the system dry. Pretty soon, there will be no business in California at all. In fact, California will start to look just like Guatamela. No jobs and it will start to smell like a damn sewer!
To: Mears
That is unbelievable!!

In the interest of the truth, according to the Social Security Administration, the U.S. has similar totalization agreements with other countries including Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Canada Norway, and the United Kingdom. In fact, I seem to remember the number of countries we have agreements with being over 50.
