Sammy Sosa recently got a sympathetic phone call from a guy who knows something about being ripped an lampooned.
Bill Clinton told Sosa to hang in there.
Sosa will learn today if he, agent Tom Reich or Cubs President Andy MacPhail spoke persuasively enough at his hearing Tuesday with Major League Baseball officials to have his eight game suspension reduced by a game or two.
Sources said Major Leage Bseball will probably release its decision by mid morning.

It's not about Sosa, it is about Klinton being the "First Black President" and trying to show that he cares about Black people.
Also, Klinton can relate to Sosa as well, you know, being a cheater and all.

Does every story have to involve Clinton in some way? That was pointed out during his presidency. Even fashion articles or something unusual like celebrity horoscopes mentioned him, but at least he was president and it was more or less understandable (do fashion or horoscope articles today always mention GWB? I think not!). Now, even if an issue doesn't involve Clinton, he makes sure it does by making a phone call or making a grand entrance in person. He grows more disgusting every day.

I think you've got it about right. I doubt very much that Clinton would have called Jason Giambi if Giambi had been the one with the corked bat. Clinton has sniffed out the fact that many Blacks will somehow see Sosa as a "victim," so Clinton is playing the race/sympathy card.

I almost choked ont he coffee. Very nice. Leno needed you last night.
Thankfully Klinton opens his mouth enough that he can't stop making himself the butt of jokes and he stays a joke. He thinks that all the exposure is good for him and for hsi bank account it is, but for respect level it continues to slide and all he touches is going with him. Can you say 60+ in 04?

Bill simply cannot comprehend that some things are wrong, that situational ethics isn't everyone's moral compass. On the other hand, he can can sure sympathasize with those who are "called on the carpet" for doing wrong. Sympathizing with Sosa [and Howell Raines] fits his profile perfectly.

No, I think it's all about Bill sympathizing with someone else who's been caught with his hand in the cookie jar. Misery loves company.

I guess that photo was taken back when Hillary was a lifelong Cubs fan, instead of the lifelong Yankees fan she is now.
