ITHACA -- When she returns to Baghdad, Maura Stephens will be looking up friends.
They're people she met just weeks before the start of the war in Iraq. Stephens, of Spencer, is afraid for them and their families.
"I hope they're alive and I hope to see them," she said.

However, it looks like Ithaca College's administration is still supporting this:

This telephone number (which was provided by the Ithaca Journal, but SHOULD NOT be used to harass Stephens--we don't want FR accused of some sort of criminal conspiracy) is Stephens's work number at Ithaca College.
I wonder what would happen to a Republican staff member (assuming their were any--Ithaca College is plagued by liberal bias) if he or she had his office phone publicized as a contact point for pro-Bush activities (I asks rhetorically).
Stephens works for the marketing communications department at Ithaca College; Sapio is an advertisement designer for The Ithaca Journal. *** Like Stephens, Cornell University's Matthew Evangelista has been keeping watch over civilian casualties

Guns Before Butter.
And, although she details the huge number of deaths during the years of the sanctions (now ended) which were no doubt caused mostly by Hussein's actions, she is still wondering if the war was worth it.
Bah. I hope the people of Baghdad pelt her with shoes.
Yes, there wasn't food and medicine for the poor people, but there was enough money to build SaddamWorld, etc.
Those people died because of Saddam, and until Stephens realizes that, she'll just be another useful idiot for the far left.
The story includes this sidebar:

Clearly the story is a conscious part of an anti-freedom PR campaign, and they WANT people to call. They are publicizing the story source's phone number, which in my long years of newspaper reading is unprecedented.
BLL is being properly careful in wanting to avoid even the appearance of FR wrongdoing.
But if anyone bears responsibility for publicizing this fool's phone number, it is the socialist party hacks at the Ithaca Journal.
Even if this number is true (I highly doubt it), our 3000 dead on 9/11 were worth a hell of a lot more than any number if Iraqis.
Here's a picture of Stephens, from an earlier article:
SENIORS JEN CHANDLER (center) and Jillian Bendig (right) help Maura Stephens (left) sort through student donations for her trip to Iraq.
I'm sure that, over 10 years, 1.7 million people total died in Iraq and leftie here is blaming every one of those deaths on sanctions.
Of further interest is watching the left speak out of both sides of the collective mouth.
On one hand, the UN is a font of wisdom and we were WRONG not to listen to them about not going to war.
On the other, the UN is killing millions of Iraqis with wrong-headed sanctions.
Typical hypocritical, illogical liberal-think.
