"If Wal-Mart would do this on a national scale, police can argue that the fairness dictates that they should forgo warrants for bugs. Or police may sue Wal-Mart for the encroachment to their turf. "
Wal-Mart Loss Prevention staff like to pretend they are real detectives and do little stake-outs. At one wal-mart I worked at they would hide inthe photo lab and watch teenagers stick CDs in their pockets in electronics, then literally tackle them once they left the store. It was funny talking to these guys because they told stories like they were real cops with dangerous lives. The only danger I saw in their life was getting sued one day when they hurt someone.

" Why not just put one in the bag. Then there are no privacy concerns either, once you toss the bag. "
Because one of the major way criminals steal stuff in places like wal-mart is removing it from the package to prevent the little security tags they already use on the package.

"I'm sure Dianne Fineswine, Chuck Schumer and Hitlery like this idea. Just think of all of the guns & ammo that they would be able to track (for the good of the children!). "
Then I guess we need to go ahead and set up a stockpile of guns and ammo now before they figure that part out.

Then the FCC will make jammers illegalThey are illegal already. If you can't qualify your 'product' under FCC Part 15 or 'Type Acceptance' (for use in one of the licensed or unlicensed radio servcies) or under one of the provisions of the other myriad of radio services - it's technically illegal to manufacture and use ...

"(Rev 13:16 KJV) And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
(Rev 13:17 KJV) And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
(Rev 13:18 KJV) Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six. "
Well, when they make you put your S.S. number on/in your right hand or forehead, then those verses might apply. Otherwise, carry all items out of the store in your left hand and don't buy hats.

Cold shot!
Actually military packaging is very precisely labeled. This is a cute idea, one we should get all our enemies to use. How handy to know if the next ridge over has infantry by looking for bvd labels with the nearest satellite.

"WHAT do you suppose the 'reading range' is going to be from one of these micro tag 'readers' that some snoop could potentially run around with: "
Well, the article mentions veing able to find things around the world, like lost shipments and such.
From the article:
"No more lost or misdirected shipments"

Remind me to tell you sometime about how I was fined 10 grand by the FCC...Did you simply ignore the umpteen letters first sent followed by the first on-site personal visit?
Is your name really L. D. Brewer?

Will police or law enforcement have to get a warrant to scan your house? Will the IRS drive by houses and scan poor neighborhoods with houses with nice stuff?
The rule should simply be this tag must be easily identified and removable by the purchaser.
(does a null reading by the scanner mean a person is going comando) Perverts will scan women to see what underwear they are wearing. (remember the infared cameras)

Note to self: Buy only used firearms in good condition. Start reloading.

Was thinking about that. I think the one-world government will be set up before this.

Geez, criminals will have a new way to make lots of money, just counterfeit a few of these chips and id theft will have a whole new meaning.
