"Police believe Scott Peterson drugged his pregnant wife with the growth hormone and date rape drug -- GHB -- and then strangled her in the couple's Modesto home, numerous sources revealed to KTVU Channel 2 on Friday.
Sources on both sides of the case told KTVU's Ted Rowlands that the prosecution's theory of the crime had been pieced together using information salvaged from a computer taken from the Peterson home."

Don't trust anything leaked to the media...especially when they make a point to say it's coming from both sides. I suspect that police don't suspect this scenario. Rather they noted the existence of the computer research of GHB on the evidence logs. The defense has this through discovery. This is defense spin, like when they saw that MPD had talked to individuals concerning satanic cults. The police never considered the satanic thing viable nor do they, I suspect, believe the GHB theory.

"Given this information, it would appear that there might be a perfectly innocent explanation for why GHB had been researched on the Petersons' computer...depending on when the research was done, of course."

Why, "depending on when the research was done"? If it was done at any time b/f Laci died, then she could have done it. If it was done after that, then she couldn't have done it, and Scott would have been doing it too late for it to be of use to him in killing his wife.

Yeah, boy, I know that when I was pregnant, I just went all over the place, looking up drugs and checking them out, so I could tell my doctors, "Use this" or "Use that". I'm sure Laci had the same extensive knowledge of chemistry that I have. (Um... nada.) After all, the patient knows so much more than the doctor, I'm sure most patients do all the research themselves, and the doctors are just there to look pretty.

And that was why she was going to those Lamaze classes, sure.

Always good advice.

Good point...this whole GHB theory does not sound right to me. I don't believe they would be seeking the death penalty if this were the prosecution's theory of how Laci died. It would be too difficult to prove, the fact that GHB appears in the body naturally, the fact that all of it would be gone from her body, due to decomposition, the fact that her head is missing so you can't prove strangulation, all point to this theory being a red herring from the DEFENSE.

Why would the police have publicly stated that Laci died as a result of a violent HOMICIDE if this were all they had? It doesn't make sense.
