Religion of Peace advocates would be left dumb, with nothing to say. The act would be so indefensible, so revolting, so nauseating to most of civilization, that in many countries it could well spell a Crusade.

Yeah, right, as if the slaughter of thousands of innocents wasn't enough, the killing of a figurehead of a church that many believe is "hate-filled" anyway is going to finally be the end of Religion of Peacers? Riiight...you're far more hopeful than I...

The point is, many do not feel negatively about that church. Many, in many countries, are fervent followers. Sometimes a symbol is more important than a brutal reality. Look at how advertising works, for example.

We all know that using the right toothpaste or drinking the right beer does not assure more dates..it's a downright stupid claim, yet, billions are spent on name brand/recognition/icon advertising to get the crowd's attention.

Apparantly September 11 did not, sufficiently. But assume radical Muslooneys killed..ohh, Santa Claus, Elvis, or any other abstract icon that was safe and painless to think about. All of a sudden, the fury so lacking about 9-11, for some reason, would assume massive proportions. People are funny. And crowds of them are downright weird.
