Colby: "We simply want equal treatment with other employee association groups."

What other groups? Pedophiles, Pederasts, Polygynists, Polyandrists, Beastialists, Incestors ...?

Oh, no!! This will really damage the DEVIANTS FROM DEFENSE festival. I know a tranie named Bruce who has been working his buns off to perfect his PATRIOTIC PERVERTS number. They were all going to end with a gala number called FRUITCAKES FOR FREEDOM. Oh, it is so sad.

They need to make up their minds. Is it an issue for the privacy of one's own bedroom or an issue to be paraded at workplaces with pride?

....see, that is the problem with gays even here on FR they B!TCH and complain they don't want the government in their bedroom, but, they are forever discrediting that philosophy, with their in our face PRIDE parades, destroying our parks and drilling holes in the restroom walls, invading our schools to recruit our children and we anti-gays, which I will admit I am, are not suppose to be inconsiderate of them???????????????

I wish the NSA would get a clue.

See below...... NSA marches on. From today's Washington Times:

NSA sex month

Political correctness continues to assert itself within U.S. intelligence. The supersecret National Security Agency, which conducts electronic eavesdropping around the world, is no exception.
NSA notified its 40,000 employees this week that June is National Gay and Lesbian Pride Month.
"During this time, we are going to increase our awareness of sexual orientation as it relates to the workplace," Michael O'Hara, director of NSA's office of diversity management, said in an e-mail. "Everyone has a sexual orientation — be it heterosexual, gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender. There will be opportunities throughout June to meet some of our employees who are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender (GLBT); to hear about their experiences in the work environment; and to learn of their contributions to our missions' successes."
Not everyone at NSA agrees with the politically correct effort. Some members of the agency question whether NSA should be promoting the homosexual agenda.
The disclosure of NSA's efforts comes as the agency is about to get stripped of major funding power.
A provision in the fiscal 2004 defense authorization bill would take away NSA's power to build major electronic intelligence systems that cost more than $115 million. It would transfer the authority to the undersecretary of defense for acquisition.
The move is part of an effort by Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld to limit NSA's budget power.
The agency's budget is classified, but it consumes a major portion of the annual $35 billion intelligence budget.
"NSA can't build systems, but it sure knows how to promulgate a social agenda," one source told us.
Once regarded as an espionage recruiting vulnerability, homosexuality among NSA employees is now a point of pride. The agency is urging its employees to "listen, discuss and learn" about NSA's homosexual employees who are "part of the NSA family," Mr. O'Hara said.
"Participation in these events is not to be viewed as a statement of one's sexual orientation, but as a statement regarding one's commitment to learning and continuous improvement," he said.
Not everyone at NSA can celebrate homosexual month. Mr. O'Hara's e-mail includes a warning to NSA military employees, saying "please note that we honor and respect the military's 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' policy."
The policy requires the discharge of homosexual military personnel who "tell" their orientation, although for the military agrees not to ask about it.

Isn't the whole point that it does NOT relate to the workplace?

I am so glad that the DOJ is finally retrenching the dam that Clinton broke.

They say they want equal treatment just like everyone else and then they turn around and want the month of June to be used as Gay pride month.

It's ok for this group to go around bashing American family values....it's ok for this group to attack American Christian beliefs....and it's ok for this group to attack and accuse Republicans of being racist! NOT

I wonder if the DOJ would object to a Straight Pride event?

Probably, but the biggest objection would come from the gays. They would say such an event shouldn't be allowed because it creates a hostile work environment and supports/promotes homophobia; it goes against the spirit of diversity, etc.

Last year, the town of Ferndale, Michigan hosted a straight pride parade. The homosexuals weren't too happy about it. I guess diversity is a one-way street with liberals. The article is listed below.

Ferndale -- Marchers take part in Straight Pride parade

June 17, 2002

About 100 people marched through downtown Ferndale on Sunday morning in a Straight Pride Parade, billed as a celebration of the heterosexual lifestyle.

The parade was organized by talk-radio hosts Kramer and Twitch of WKRK-FM as a tongue-in-cheek event in a community that recently hosted more than 15,000 people for a gay-pride gathering. Organizers could not be reached for comment.

According to the radio station's Web site, the parade was also sponsored by the He-Man Women Hater's Club of America. The group's toll-free number has been disconnected.

Gay activists who attended Sunday's parade said the crowd was anything but joking. The parade, with marchers chanting "Straight is great" and pumping their fists in the air, looked like an antigay rally, not a celebration, said Sean Kosofsky of the Triangle Foundation.

Ferndale police said there were no incidents associated with the parade.

Kosofsky said organizers further mocked the gay community by holding the parade on the same street as the gay-pride festival and during gay-pride month.

"Having a publicity stunt at the expense of a minority group is insensitive," said Kosofsky, who added he plans to ask the radio station management not to hold future straight parades. "We're marching because we don't have what you have. They're doing this to promote a radio show." By Amy Klein

Employee association groups are a waste of time and money. If gay employees, at the DOJ, wish to celebrate gay pride, let them do it on their own free time. The DOJ is a place to work, not to party.

Did I miss something? I get the impression that making known your sexual orientation is a private affair EXCEPT for homosexuals, er when it suits them? I'm all the more baffled that homos think they need a special day to celebrate being "gay". I'd bet you my last dollar that they'd have a HUGE hissy fit if straights held a heterosexual day or "straight pride".

I've yet to see how homosexual acts of fellatio, anal sex, fisting or cunnilingus qualify as something to be "proud" of

Perhaps this organization should adopt the 'black power' raised fist as their symbol. Of course the outstretched fist would need to trade the black glove for a brown one.

Senator Feingold (D-Wis.) has released the following press statement:

During his confirmation hearings, the Attorney General repeatedly assured me that he would not tolerate discrimination against any DOJ employee based on sexual orientation, and in response to my question specifically asking whether he would continue to allow DOJ Pride to use Department facilities, the Attorney General said that he had "no intent to treat this group differently than any other." I call on the Attorney General to uphold his direct promise to me not to discriminate against gay employees and reverse the Department's decision to ban DOJ Pride from holding an event in the Department's headquarters.
I have not tried to find a transcript of Mr. Ashcroft's nomination hearing to verify that Senator Feingold is correct.

"I think they are sending us a signal they want us to go back into the closet, quite frankly," Friel said.

This is very perceptive on Mr. Friel's part.

They can go back in the closet or out the door.

From today's AJC:

"Ashcroft assailed for gay event ban"--Democrats and civil rights advocates on Friday condemned the Justice department for banning a gay pride event for employees, and call on Attorney General John Ashcroft to reverse the decision.

Sen. Frank Lautenberg(D-NJ) told Ashcroft in a letter Friday that he found the decision "unconscionable" at a department charged with protecting civil rights.
