PRISHTINA (KosovaLive) - The SRSG Michael Steiner and COMKFOR Fabio Mini took part today in a memorial ceremony organized by KFOR peacekeepers at Saint Ndou in Prishtina for the sake of international peacekeepers day.

The multi-religious ceremony introduced by KFOR military clerics, Catholics, Muslims, and Orthodox, was organized to honor all those international peacekeepers who gave their lives for peace, and especially the 62 Spanish peacekeepers and the Ukrainian crews who recently lost their lives on their return from Afghanistan.

In Kosovo alone, 99 peacekeepers from various countries of the world died over the past four years. “It is important today to remember them and the contribution they have made,” said KFOR spokesperson Gary Bannister Green.

The UN mission in Kosova in addition to peacekeepers, includes police officers, judges, prosecutors, civil administrators, political experts, human rights activists, economists, and so on. In addition to UNMIK all stars, UNMIK organized a karate event, discussions on mine awareness, a seminar on peacekeepers, a chess tournament, a basketball match between Kosova veterans and an UNMIK Mission Mix.

This shows vooch was being conservative 1 1/2 years ago when he was using a low 70's figure. Remember the hard time Hoplite gave him for saying that and we had to dig up old reports to try to prove it. But I always suspected that the non-English speaking peacekeepers deaths wouldn't be likely to be found in the western press or the internet in the English language.
